It's like seeing Police mine protected vehicles in İstanbul. Completely useless expense.

AS532 cougar with a door gun would be more than enough for the police.

Due to terror threat with possibility of being heavily armed with explosives. High protection combat vehicle is needed. Especially in cities, touristic, large civilian density areas. Allows for very quick response.

Police special operations is often involved in counter terror operations in rural regions or areas. Dedicated T129 is not much if you think about it.

Turkey is on the crossroads of lots of traffic; narcotics, human trafficking, illegal immigration, pipelines, espionage, tourism, shipping, air transportation. We do not need to look elsewhere to beef up our police, we have our own special condition that is unique in the world. We need to take full control.

Turkish police and Jandarma has always had good cooperation. But don't worry, when we a have a government that isn't afraid of it's own armed forces the over-arming will be rectified.

Law enforcement are there to provide security, and only Jandarma has IMO permission/right to be armed like the Army due to their function.

Mi-17 does look pretty decent, but I was under the impression BlackHawk also fulfilled same function.

you're going to hit smugglers, human traffickers and illegal immigrants with cirit missiles? :p
You need a helicopter than moves quickly and be awe inspiring, imposing and that has the power to hit. Also you need it against terrorist attacks that can escalate to military grade equipment level. Imagine some terrorists get hold of some pieces of military equipment and want to hit targets in Turkey, you can not be lacking the power to intercept them in quick response manner.

You realize that we have an Army, Coast Guard and Jandarma right? They can do this quick-response anti-terrorist things.

Police duty is to provide security and enforce the law in urban areas.

in most countries a MD-500 type helicopter is seen as sufficient.

Urbanization rate is at 90% and military activity in urban areas is not plausible.

Ataks are Turkish made and is of high quality, it suit so well for our police force that is tasked to do peace time operations without involvement of the military. That's being civil.

Those aren't really good examples of good law enforcement helicopters. They're more like for observing and tracking.

It doesn't cost a lot to have a little extra now that we are making the machines. In today's world hostiles find new ways to harm nations interests, we need the agility, resilience and the punch to render hostiles hopeless. We have to be on top of our game. We are not followers, we are leaders. Remember how US national guard flooded the city when people occupied the nations capital, it was an unprecedented episode. We have police instead.

It would be better to allocate money to improve the gadgets of police officers such as ballistic vests. And More Atak would be better for Jandarma.

hello everyone

sorry to ask but am quite confused regarding the turkish helicopter projects , as far as I understand there are 3 projects at the same time to develop new helicopters for the TSK , these are :

1- T-929 which is Atak 2 helicopter .
2- T-629 which is unmanned helicopter .
3- 10 ton general purpose helicopter .
4- T-625 gökbey helicopter .

if those codes and names are correct , why the urgency to develop the T629 unmanned helicopter while it more important to do the 10 ton utility helicopter first since the TN is expanding and TA lack of transport helicopter ?

another question for something if true I would really be sad , I have not recently seen any video or rendering from TAI for the T-929 with Meteksan MILDAR Helicopter Fire Control Radar installed , what's the status of this project ? why we haven't seen it on T-129 since this radar is almost in develop for more than 8 years ? if the numbers below are true , then its amazing what the turkish industry have achieved yet its sad not seeing the best helicopter radar in the world operational .

AFAIK..The unmanned version was a tech demonstration prototip ..but its not a priority .. the priority is the t929 and gökbey ... 10 ton multi utility helo is not a priority for now coz TAI has an agreement for production of 109 sikorsy s70 with very high local contribution including many critical parts
..so the TAI's priorities are gökbey&atak2 then t629 (similar to atak 1 but with completely local design and without licence + 1 tone heavier )

Regarding mildar radar there is no official announcement for a while but i think it will be developed for atak 2 ...so it will take a time to mature and will inter the inventory with it

T629 isn't an unmanned helicopter, it's an attack helicopter based on Gökbey platform. You are simply mistaken.

And the image you shared is full of false information, Longbow doesn't weigh 200 kilograms, the range is incorrect etc.

There has never been a version of AN/APG-78 that had a range of 12km, the current version has a range of 16km

Yeah actually they announced that with a picture in past after testing it with a T129 so I can say that probably it'll be on top of T929 when she shows herself in 2023

Let's see, Philippines paid 230 million dollars for 6 units of T129, that makes 38 million dollars per unit %20 of that is 7,5 million dollars

it's nothing :ROFLMAO:

I spent 7 million dollars on tea yesterday.

Turkey is no Philly,
