Would they sell it to us ?? This is a new type of JDAM's . Normal JDAM are for fixed target with a pre determined position and even then in the ME they sometimes added laser guidance to increase accuracy (for a fixed target)

OTOH, this is what a ship would do when bombs are away.

If they offer us Harpoon why not those new JDAM. It's not like that new JDAM kit is a new super advance weapon.

JDAM uses INS/GPS instead of active/passive seeker used on anti ship cruise missile. So somehow the GPS and INS could guess and calculate where the ship would turn and move, it is a big deal.

So it kinda question me , why the air force decided to go for JDAM instead of Paveway laser guided bombs.

Did not the air force realized that our threat will be mainly coming from the sea ??

Paveway had been used successfully against warships in the past.

while I never heard JDAM used against a moving warship before.

In fact when it comes to ship killing the Indonesian air force would be one of the lower end when it comes to ship killing capabilities. Only above the Philippine air force and Vietnam.

(Cambodia and Laos doesn't count)

That youtuber speculated The Bombs isn't the one who do calculation. The bomber did (in this case F15E). That new JDAM just receiving new data from F15E.

Might be not in 5-8 years to come, just another edition to JDAM.

There's one stuff called "SPICE" ("Smart, Precise Impact, Cost-Effective") also there's a new tech called SCALP EG (Système de Croisière Autonome à Longue Portée – Emploi Général, meaning General Purpose Long Range Cruise Missile).

If only will-build AH140 become true and armed with Sylver A70 there's a slight chance to adopt ship launched cruised missile.

Therefore, nowadays rather hard to find an antidot for pack-all-punch jack-of-all-trade stuff, hence one who in a must to destroy such target must exploit every little weakness of the target.

I said "our F-16". It means the ones that we already own. Not the ones that we'd be stupidly buying. If we want to develop anti-ship capability, just use those junks (or Flankers with Brahmos). Not really interested building our major anti-ship using new fighters.

Are there any SOM operator outside Turkey?

Not sure.

It have good reaction time though compared to a warship or submarine, fighters stationed on Kalimantan and Java can strike enemy on North Natuna sea.

Submarine and warship can only engange enemy within firing range and not that fast to immediately go to another area.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Indonesian Air Force joins a growing list of customers that have selected Collins Aerospace for its C-130H Hercules military transport aircraft modernization effort. Serving as a contractor to GMF, Collins Aerospace will provide its Flight2™ avionics solution, that transforms dated analog controls into a modern digital glass cockpit and expands Collins’ position as the global leader in C-130 modifications.

Used for a broad range of missions, including personnel and cargo transport, as well as humanitarian efforts, the Flight2™ avionics modification will replace the C-130H’s analog instruments with seven multifunction displays, three control display units and new digital autopilot. In addition, the aircraft will be equipped with the Required Navigation Performance/Area Navigation flight management system, with high altitude release point and computed air release point precision airdrop software. The modernization will help the Indonesian Air Force optimize its operations, improve pilot situational awareness and minimize aircraft downtime.

“We worked closely with GMF and the Indonesian Air Force to leverage our Flight2™ Mobility Mission Application (MMA) architecture, and to tailor the system to meet all the specific mission requirements,” said Dave Schreck, vice president and general manager for Military Avionics and Helicopters at Collins Aerospace. “MMA enables customers to select from a superset of off-the-shelf capabilities, which really maximizes what we can provide for any given budget. In this case, we created a solution that is custom fit to the needs of the Indonesian Air Force.”


Andi Fahrurrozi, CEO of GMF, added, “We are delighted to work with Collins Aerospace to jointly modernize the C-130H owned by the Indonesian Air Force. By upgrading to Flight2™, the Indonesian Air Force’s C-130H will be in compliance with the most recent International Civil Aviation Organization standards, while also equipping it with a tactical advantage in military operations.

As far as I know, Falcons and Flankers belong to fighters category.
