Projects take time my friend, most of these are very new so I wouldnt expect them to be in use already.

Most will enter service as they were directly requested by UAE armer forces which will see to it that they are completed.

The self funded projects are a bit more risky though and those many never enter service.

Likely most of them as they have a requirment from the UAE armed forces before starting projects which means getting the funds required here is some news about the Skyknight below.

Maybe the focus is just too broad right now. For example, UAE barely has a navy and is not under any weapon embargo - it just doesn't make sense for them to spend ressources on a CIWS. It's been years and nothing has really materialised? (or did I just miss the materialisation of some platforms?).

Anyways, please keep us updated on the progress with Halcon and EDGE.

I can't stop asking but why it does traverse 320 degrees but not 360 (in fact continous rotation)? Why restricting this on product level while it supposed to be per platform's dead zones?

As @Cabatli_53 has asked, if this product is funded should't it made its way to the naval platforms that UAE is procuring recently, or the mock-ups in the DAS? Would love to see if it is present on some designs.

It's been years and nothing has really materialised? (or did I just miss the materialisation of some platforms?).

Project started August 2020 and it has had first firing test this year.

I think they developed the CIWS as a secondary platform while the main platform is as a CRAM in the land based version.

I do not want to offend anyone, but I think that the UAE or any Arab country is far from developing even the most basic equipment of such systems. It has some collaborations with South Africa, South Korea and more recently Israel. They are likely to source some subsystems directly from these countries. However, I will especially follow these projects.

Short-term goal is likely not high nationalization but having more flexibility over systems/platforms as compared to with limits of ready purchase products. UAE is involved in almost all regional conflicts. Libyan conflict was a lesson as the import ready foreign arms, transfer to proxies, token forces etc. did not work as well as soon as Turkey got involved.

It is remarkable because for almost 2 years, Haftar forces captured GNA areas and closed into Tripoli close enough to artillery shell the airport, sea port. TB2s was deployed under very difficult conditions and used improvised runways such as farm land. Artillery batteries used bridges as cover etc. Systems, platforms was quickly improvised for the conflict thanks to experienced military and industry. with knowledge from internal, Syrian and Iraq conflicts, other factors.

Compare Edge etc. Their product, services line. It's a nice representation of UAE ambitions, capabilities wants to be achieved. Interestingly very suitable for proxy wars. Effectiveness will be questionable when you put in the other factors but definitely will give far more leverage especially against a opponent that can't neutralize the threats.

The program is being supported by Rheinmetall as well which expands market it can reach greatly and will put it in completion with Diehl RIM-116.
