If this is true it would be incredible that the US gave permission for ESSM to be integrated into MIDLAS. As a short term solution until our own products are ready it would be greats. Especially Block 2 which is very advanced.

To add to this, this would also mean Barbaros Frigates will be equipped with ESSM Block 2 most likely which should add to its lethality combined with the MLU.

It's one consortium that US hasn't been able to kick Turkey out of, yet..

How many STM500 will be delivered to the navy?
I don't think we know. Atm the speculation is who the customer is. I just thought that STM500 could be very handy in the persian gulf. Could that be one of the reason UAE is paying a visit ?

I don't think that would be a wise move on our part, given such close relationship between UAE and Greece. We still need to pay UAE a good slap for it's behaviour in Libya, of course at a time and place of our choosing :)

Now one of the reputable Twitter posters is saying that it may be a Black Sea customer...
I won't be surprised if TN gets 6-8 of these as well. They have been once interested in 300 and 500 tons designs by Germans and evaluated it to conclude negatively.

Technically this design is tailored by people who worked on mini subs in the earlier days (90s-00s). Li-ion just revived the design to a better state.

Hope they are. Subs of this size would be very useful in the Aegan Sea and around Cyprus.

Then they should stop the project, you are not selling them strategic weapon like this.

Who is anmdt after all, just a peasant :). Ibrahim Sunnetci's information about deliveries of the Reis class.

Translation:
The delays on deliveries are linked to covid and export licenses, and related to only some parts. There is no open embargo or there isn't any major delays in the progress.
Thats what we talked about, last time.

Disappointing news. They pretty much acknowledged that Gökdeniz is inferior to Phalanx. I hope MKE's CIWS can match the Phalanx.

They work with different concept. It does not mean it is inferior. Reasons for the possible switch is likely technical, modernization was initially planned with 2 Phalanx.

Still I’d like to point out that German Oerlikon can say their 30mm millennium is installed and ready to be used. Which means a lot when you want to export stuff.

Gokdeniz is ready too, and better than millenium gun in some terms, and on par with the rest.

In fact T.N likes Gokdeniz, may sound strange but things are a bit fishy now and can be related to the need of cash vs purchase with credits. I don't want to think this is the case.
The project goes on with Gokdeniz (in details and doesn't seem like it will change) eventhough a green light has been received, this indicates a tendency by T.N. Technically it is included in the budget even before than the embargoes instead of Phalanx.

So, does that mean G-40 won't be ready until that time?

I was thinking, how necessary is it to keep working on design of FAC, OPV and Corvettes ?

I understand the need to adapt to new threats and optimize design/construction.

But at the end of the day if a Vessel is multipurpose (or not) and is 20-30 year old design, it would still function and do it's duty today.

We're saying Milgem Ada class is old design and such (early 90's to 2006), but can anyone deny that it would do what it was meant for flawlessly ? The same could be said about older designs and such of lesser tonnage.
