What's to explain? You want my country to join a union with a bunch of dictatorships and failed states?
I’d say current government would fit the bill quite well. Considering how even Karamollaoglu refused offer to join RTE refering no accountability.

In fact I don’t see the current government as Turkish as they place islam before national interests.

Do you have to overstate? Can't you stay neutral? Objective? Turkey's economy and democratic constitution may be in a state of decline and there is no room for any excuses. Yet, it still can't be emphasized enough that the entire Turkic world is in decay, broken fragments, in pieces. Our problems are nothing compared to the current situation of the Turkic states.

News flash to our Pan-Turkists: Arab world = Turkic world. Same difference. Pretty much so.

Özbekistan = Soviet-style dictatorship
Türkmenistan = weird dictatorship
Kazakistan = usless dictatorship
Azerbaycan = friendly dictatorship
Kirgizistan = no good in nothing

All of them are poor, all of them are underdeveloped, all of them are corrupt, all of them are undemocratic, all of them are a pain in the ass of the people living in Central Asia, all of them will be a burden to Turkey.

In fact I don’t see the current government as Turkish as they place islam before national interests.

Yeah, yeah, we're on the internet and what you say may have fans here but the reality offline is different. Turkish nationalism and Islam are considered to be one idea that cannot be separated. This is not AKP's invention, though. This is pretty much what Kemalism and its concept of religion is, how Kemalists used Islam, what they thought Islam's position in the Turkish society should be, why they installed Diyanet and what the Kemalist vision of an average Turkish citizen was.

Get real - that's all I can say.

What kind of commercial advantages can the Organization of Turkish States bring?
Police Academy Lecturer Assoc. Dr. Levent Yılmaz: "Everything will change if the market for Turkmen and Kazakh oil is determined from Istanbul"
That would heavily rely on Turkey being Britain, versatile and strong never fucking with market powers and being reliable to a fault.

Though I have my doubt since the brexit ppl got their will

Turkey, Turkmenistan set on meeting trade target of $5B: Erdogan

Turkey and Turkmenistan are determined to reach their bilateral trade volume target of $5 billion, the Turkish president said on Saturday in the Turkmen capital Ashgabat.

"We are determined to take the necessary steps to increase our trade volume to $5 billion, as planned," Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at a joint press conference alongside his counterpart Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov.

The official visit came just weeks after Turkey hosted Berdimuhammadov as an observer at an Organization of Turkic States summit in Istanbul -- the first time a Turkmen president attended a meeting of the body, formerly known as the Turkic Council.

"As part of our brotherly relations, we will continue to support Turkmenistan and its strategy of neutrality, which it pursues successfully," Erdogan said, adding that during their meeting, the two leaders discussed all aspects of ties between the two countries "based on brotherhood".

"We exchanged views on what we can do to improve our cooperation in the field of energy, as well as land and air transport," he went on to say.

As part of their strategic cooperation based on historical and cultural partnership, the two countries agreed to accelerate their relations in such fields as education, culture, youth, and sports, Erdogan said, also noting that he and Berdimuhammadov had signed a joint declaration of nine articles that further strengthened their countries' ties.

Erdogan also congratulated the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence.

He underlined that Ankara was the first country to recognize the country's independence and open an embassy in its capital.

Order of Turkmenistan

Following the joint press conference, President Erdogan was awarded the Order of Turkmenistan.

Thanking the Turkmen leader for the distinction, he said the order was "a concrete manifestation of our developing relations in every field on the basis of mutual respect, understanding and common interests."

Erdogan will attend the 15th Leaders' Summit of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) slated for Sunday, which will be headed by Berdimuhammadov.

The Turkish president is also expected to hold bilateral talks with the leaders of some of the organization's member countries and hand over its term presidency to Turkmenistan.

Erdogan's accompanying delegation includes Turkey's ministers of energy and natural resources, national defense, education, agriculture, and transportation and infrastructure.

Workgroups on history, education, economy, freedom of movement and labor, security will be formed. The single currency is also on the agenda. The declaration probably won't be a full union declaration but rather a declaration of forming workgroups that will pave the way for an EU-like union.
according to what? Also we didn't see something related to security or single currency.

Do you know how long realization of each of these topics takes? A few decades. The history of the formation of the EU is a good example.

ic world is in decay, broken fragments, in pieces. Our problems are nothing compared to the current situation of the Turkic states.

About a hundred years ago all we had was Ataturk in central Turkey with an ambition to liberate some land for the Turks. Today a hundred years later our people number 200 million and we have many states.

Turkiye, Uzbekistan strategic ties to reach highest level

Relations between strategic partners Turkiye and Uzbekistan are expected to reach new highs with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit set for Tuesday.

Diplomatic ties between the two countries were established on March 4, 1992, months after Uzbekistan declared its independence on Aug. 31, 1991. Tashkent and Ankara marked three decades of diplomatic relations on March 4.

Turkiye was also the first country to recognize Uzbekistan's independence on Dec. 16, 1991.

Though relations have had their ups and downs for various reasons over the years, this changed after President Erdogan visited Samarkand in November 2016.

Amidst the revived ties, a new era began between the two nations with the meeting of President Erdogan and his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev during the trip. In October 2017, less than a year after taking office as president, Mirziyoyev became the most-senior Uzbek official to visit Turkiye in 21 years.

Uzbekistan-Turkiye relations were raised to the level of strategic partnership in 2017 as a result of the close friendship and political will between the countries' presidents.

That year, officials from the two nations also held a long-stalled Joint Economic Commission meeting and established the Turkiye-Uzbekistan High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council in 2018.

The Turkish capital Ankara hosted the first meeting of this council in 2020.

The second Uzbekistan-Turkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council is expected during Erdogan's visit to Tashkent on Tuesday. The Turkish president is set to arrive in the Uzbek capital with a large delegation as his visit is expected to bring relations to their highest level through a number of bilateral agreements that will be signed.

The bilateral trade volume, which was over $1.2 billion in 2016, reached $2.1 billion in 2020 and exceeded $3.6 billion in 2021.

Turkiye is among Uzbekistan's top five trade partners and their trade volume is expected to reach $5 billion this year.

Uzbekistan also officially joined the Organization of Turkic States in 2019 and is expected to host the annual summit of the organization on Nov. 11.

Turkish World NGOs Platform (TDSP) published a Crimean statement titled “Crimea and Crimean Turks in the Shadow of the Russia-Ukraine War” on April 4, 2022. Many academics, NGO executives and volunteers of the Turkic world signed the declaration. Until 13 April 2022, 219 people signed the declaration.

“CRIMEA NEEDS THE GUARANTEE OF THE TURKISH STATES ORGANIZATION UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF TURKEY”

Crimea and Crimean Turks should be the most important agenda of the Turkish States Organization, especially the Republic of Turkey; In the statement, which stated that Crimea needs the guarantorship of the Organization of Turkish States under the leadership of the Republic of Turkey, stopping the international games to be played on Crimea, taking steps in every field to prevent the Crimean Turks from experiencing new suffering in the future, Turkey's duty and responsibility on behalf of the Crimean Turks in the Russia-Ukraine war. requested to comply.

The full text of the notice is as follows:

Crimea and Crimean Turks in the Shadow of the Russia-Ukraine War
Crimea, which is the ancient Turkish homeland and was occupied in 1783, got its share from the genocide and assimilation practices applied by the Soviet Union to all Turks. In 1944, 200,000 Crimean Turks were subjected to genocide with the ethnic cleansing movement and the majority of them were exiled. Crimea; The present representative of the Soviet Union is the ancient Turkish homeland that suffered under various pressures from Russia and is an inseparable part of our heartland.

Crimea, which was annexed to Ukraine in 1954, gained the status of an "Autonomous Republic" with the referendum held in 1991. In 2014, Russia invaded Crimea unjustly and unlawfully, violating all international agreements. After this invasion, Russia re-implemented its policies of oppression, persecution and assimilation on the Crimean Turks. This unfair occupation that started in 2014 should be stopped immediately, Russia should withdraw to its borders, and a new genocide of Crimean Turks should not be allowed.

Due to the current conjuncture, it is extremely important to discuss the status of the Crimean and Crimean Turks in the Russia-Ukraine war. Turkey and the Turkic Republics should take the initiative on the status of Crimea. Turkey and the Turkic Republics should accept being a guarantor state for Crimea as a historical duty.

While the war between Russia and Ukraine continues, Turkey's effectiveness and reliable country position are followed by us with pride and joy. It is felt by us that the Crimean Turks and the Crimea were forgotten while the war was going on, and that the work done was not enough. Forgetting the Crimean and Crimean Turks while the Russian-Ukrainian war was going on gives the impression that our sufferings, memories and struggles of the Crimean Turks are not valued during and after the war since 1944.

As stated above, Crimea is clearly an ancient Turkish homeland and will continue to exist. Neither Russia nor Ukraine should forget that Crimea is an ancient Turkish homeland. Turkey; There should be a guarantor state so that the Crimean Turks do not experience new pains in the issue of Crimea, which is the ancient Turkish homeland. The eyes of the Crimean Turks, who live in Crimea and spread all over the world, are on the steps that Turkey will take. Turkey, which has proven to be a valuable country in the world, has a debt of gratitude to the Crimean Turks and Crimea, who are the own children of our nation.

In summary; As Crimean Turks and Turkish World volunteers, our opinion should be the most important agenda of the Turkish States Organization, especially the Crimean and Crimean Turks, the Republic of Turkey, without being overshadowed by the Russia-Ukraine War. Crimea needs the guarantorship of the Organization of Turkish States under the leadership of the Republic of Turkey. Steps should be taken in all areas to stop the international games to be played on Crimea and to prevent the Crimean Turks from experiencing new suffering in the future. Turkey; In the Russia-Ukraine war, on behalf of the Crimean Turks, he should fulfill the duties and responsibilities of history.

The ancient Turkish homeland of the Crimea and the Crimean Turks are not unclaimed!
