An interesting article about the aspirations of Turkish submarine fleet and Milden.Turkey’s Submarine Industry: Where Does the Country Stand Currently? - Politics Today
Turkey’s NTSP (New Type Submarine Project) is among the country’s most striking national defense industry projects which will enhance its naval power.politicstoday.org
The last 3 bullet points explains quite clearly what Turkey expects from this program.
1. Due to their effectiveness in shallow and littoral waters, AIP Reis Class Subs will be most effective in the Aegean waters.
2. Reis class will be operating the latest technology developed by local companies like ; Sub-Atmaca Missile, Gezgin Cruise Missile and Akya Heavy Torpedo. This torpedo, Turkish defense industry officials argues that it is significantly better than its global counterparts.
In addition to the locally developed weapons, according to this site, Reis class will be operating IDAS missile system developed by Germany and Roketsan. Interactive Defence & Attack System SAM will give the subs self defence capability against anti-sub helicopters and alike.
3. Reis class will augment Turkeys force projection capability in open seas as well.
Milden will be the natural follow up to the Reis project. And it will carry Turkish submarine program to the next level with local technology input at it’s apex.
I have read that there is minimal difference between this test system and normal system used in subs and they can modify it for milden ... Is that true ?Thanks for sharing bro.
Akya
Sub-Atmaca
Sub-Hisar
Sub-Gezgin
Tork
These are the capabilities that the navy wants in the Milden.

this is the test setup developed by Tübitak sage.

The system placed underwater, remotely controlled and can be used for all kind of submarine launched weapon using exact same CMS, torpedo control system and firing sequence like a submarine really does. I think they are also after localizing some more critical subsystems on the torpedo control and fire control system. The system we are talking about consists of a mechanism that enables the firing and testing of national submarine missiles on land without being integrated into the submarine. We will probably see a modified version of this system in Mildens.
This is the best News I have had today. Finally the wish of all patriotic Turks is going to be realised.Mr Demir: "In a very short time, we are going to issue tender for the serial production of I class."
Well SSB is now announcing for at least half a year that they will go for a tender in a "very short time".This is the best News I have had today. Finally the wish of all patriotic Turks is going to be realised.

And it is tender not decision!! Decision also takes another at least 6-12 months.Well SSB is now announcing for at least half a year that they will go for a tender in a "very short time".
I wish they defined this very short time
Entirely depends on SSIK.And it is tender not decision!! Decision also takes another at least 6-12 months.
Likely it is, and I don't think Russians are the only option here.
Fuel Cell / Li-Ion also satisfies the requirement and even the beyond, so it is less-likely for Navy to ask nuclear propulsion that will ten-fold the complexity.
Could be, the time is ticking for Milden and there isn't much time left for them to initiate a fuel-cell tech development project to catch up with the schedule.*Interesting, so when RTE was having a go at Germans - it was likely not for the U-214TN but perhaps co-operation for Fuel Cell technology in MILDEN?
3 000 ton displacement right? Why dont they go for even a bigger ship around 4 000-5 000 ton? The ada class is 2 400 ton right? I know that the tf 2000 would be around 8500 tons, but would it not be smart to have a mid gap between the ada class and heavy frigate?Mr Demir: "In a very short time, we are going to issue tender for the serial production of I class."
I dont think that Germany will cooperate for Li-Ion batteries with usInteresting, so when RTE was having a go at Germans - it was likely not for the U-214TN but perhaps co-operation for Fuel Cell technology in MILDEN?

Milden DPO has recurring meetings that hosts several parties; researchers, contractors (STM), equipment (battery, possible fuel-cell developer, R&D firms, electronics and sensor providers) and material manufacturers, engineering solution providers (Figes et al.). They are seeking out firms and collaborations to assign the critical tasks, or by themselves forming collaborations.
*Let me note this further, navy has that long endurance aim for the second batch/block of Milden. So fuel cell tech can be aimed foe 2035+ and Milden will start with Li-İon like Japanese did.
