In order to increase cooperation in the military sector, the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) held a bilateral meeting with the Italian Navy in Dahlia I Room, Avenzel Hotel, Bekasi, last Thursday (10/2).
During the meeting, the Indonesian Navy was led by the Head of Delegation (HoD) Paban V Straops and Marine Sopsal Diplomacy Colonel (P) Bambang Dharmawan, S.E., M.Sc., accompanied by Srenaal, Sintelal, Slogal, and Disdikal Staff Officers. Meanwhile, the Italian Navy was represented by the Italian Defense Attaché in Jakarta, Captain (Navy) Maurizio Pitton.
Marine Colonel (F) Bambang Dharmawan opened the Staff Meeting by saying that the relationship between the Indonesian Navy and the Italian Navy had existed for decades through the purchase of weapons and port visits, but needed to be improved by establishing an official meeting forum.
Meanwhile, Captain (Navy) Maurizio Pitton said that the Italian Navy was ready to improve relations with the Indonesian Navy considering the Ministry of Defense's plan to acquire the frigate type Fregata Europea Multi-Missione (FREMM) to strengthen the Navy.
The topic of discussion at this meeting was initiating the opening of Navy To Navy Talks with the Italian Navy as a forum to discuss cooperation in various fields such as strategic overview, information exchange, education and courses, officer visits, port visits and exercises.
