Well....I didn't say we need to add more spending...We can do that...only by slashing other fighter program...
including...uhm...how to say...
i can't bear to say it....
anyway..i am just an ordinary propulsion guy... not that fancy aviation engineer...
can't talk about it...

How about to increase R&D budget and make the indigenous R&D research on engine ????

Based on previous statement from former PTDI director I read in Jakarta Post, current cruise missile program also touch the development of turbo jet engine, but dont know if this just a plan ( due to lack of government financial support) or it is actually running.

Any way, at least PTDI has PTNTP and they can start from there for the manufacturing while for research I believe it should be ITB/UI/ITS and ITB has already had a tech company

But for EDF engine, I see there is R&D program going on

How much for the price of f16v offered to us?

Not that much different from Jordania offer or deviated far from Marocco deals, i can said that. Depend on the final config and what kind technical support you need and for how long (this very important thing tend to be forgotten)

Hell, to train and deployed the qualified staff and technical advisor of the ground crew with all of their skills is not cheap at all. Their duration support is being tallied into your initial payment or later years maintenance costs is sometimes what Made the initial acquisition costs look very different.

Why not use foreign product first? At least the missile can be completed and able to fly, we can use indigenous engine later (if we can make it).

Blasphemy 😠

The Vietnam took more prudent approach, they bought South Korean engine for their AShM program. Though i am still rather put my opinion on their claims, the same to our own "indigenous" program

I believe current engine will be bought from foreign country

Current R&D is for Electric Deducted Fan engine ( Before it is turbo jet but shifted maybe due to our plan to build EV battery with our state owned IBC ( cooperation with Foxcon/LG Chem/CATL).

Future is electric, just think if our cruise missile uses electric engine, it will be soundless

I will reiterate again in this forum, NTP is an MRO facility, not a manufacturing plant. It's even already congested by numerous OEM's engine overhaul lines.
Let say If NTP wants to be an engine manufacturer...it has to build a new manufacturing facility somewhere else.

Don't know why this guy must focusing on NTP or PT DI, engine manufacturing need foundry and casting process, along with wiring, build piston, Shaft and cranks and so on. There is already PT Boma Bisma Indra, and they already had experience in building engine (though diesel ones, Marines Diesel and CNG, but nonetheless they are the one closest with heavy engine manufacturing lines).

Sokor german cruise missile?

Those Missiles already being certified to F15E eagle integration toward newer model should not be much problem for the OEM

Hmmm what if we cancel KF-21, F-15ID and go full Rafale instead ? Something like 80-100 Rafale

I'd say its fair option if Rafale had a solid availability rate.....but it doesn't (somewhere around 55%?).

Some here bring up the Engine ToT or MRO knowhow etc.... French bargain hard on that stuff just like anyone else....so that will not be some easy thing to do/absorb even with a 5 - 6 squadron order.

Indonesia best bet there is to broaden industrial gas turbine research with: Germany, Canada and US.

(in about that order and over the next 1 - 2 decades).

UK and France are also good for it.... but tend to be (from what I seen) more exclusive + saturated backlog with whom they let into their best programs as their industrial funding + experience is more monolith compared to other 3.

Japan from what I know I would put among the first 3 somewhere as well.

With that core more established, Indonesia can then progress to marine and aviation stuff more readily and use experienced consultants from the relevant big guys to smooth the edges into the relevant capacities then.

In the end its how you structure (and persevere with) the qualitative manhours committed (both abroad and onshore) to broaden the absorption capability.....there are no shortcuts here that big orders etc can provide.

Along the way, there is lot to do to teethe and prove like cruise missile (one time use engine) or smaller scale turboshafts etc....those are extra benefits in charting things properly.
