Neither Germany nor Turkey supports Ukraine. Germany and Turkey are in the same camp since 1900. Every German administration - started with Kaiser Wilhelm till Adolf Hitler and Willy Brandt till Helmut Köhl and Angela Merkel - supported Turkey in every way (EU, NATO etc). Merkel alone saved Erdogan from harsh EU-sanctions numerous times. The recent German weapon embargos were forced by European pressure, the public opinion and the PKK-lobby.

There are 3 blocs now in the world and you see those blocs in every case, also the Ukrainian conflict.

Bloc 1.- US and UK and their allies and there hemisphere mostly from WO II: Japan, Canada, South-Korea, Australia, India, France, Greece, Poland, Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, The Baltics, Israel, Taiwan, Philipines, Indonesia, Brazil, Thailand, Jordan, Kuwait, Paraguay, Chili, South-Africa, Colombia, Morocco, Georgia.

Bloc 2.- Russia-China gang with their hemisphere Iran, Syria, Egypt, Belarus, Afghanistan, Kazachstan, Armenia, Mongolia, North-Korea, Myanmar, Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Sudan, Vietnam, Algeria, Argentina, Uruguay, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Cuba, Tadzjikistan, Angola.

Bloc 3.- The Turkish-German alliance. This is the smallest bloc, but also the most neutral bloc. It started in 1900 with a German-Turkish friendship and it contains allied countries from the First and Second World Wars (most friendships are from Nazi/Ottoman hemisphere). It includes Turkey, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, Romania, Iraq, Azerbaijcan, Qatar, Malaysia, Ethiopia, Pakistan, Libya, Tunesia, Bangladesh, Somalia.

You can see the patterns in the international arena.
German-Turkish alliance? Come on man..... Germany never became Tukey's ally; not even bloody once!! The only reason the germans are helping Turkey is economical as well as due to the presence of turkish minority in Germany

From how I see it, Turkey and the turks have always been alone. I would say their most dependable ally rn is Azerbaijan and none else.....

Germany is hardly Turkey's best friend. The Turkish-German alliance of the 19th century was basically an attempt to soft colonize the Ottoman Empire and make it a part of the German Empire, even the agreements on military and economic cooperation were signed with the caveat that the Ottomans would permit Germans to permanently settle in western Anatolia (all those settlers were thrown out after the Entente won World War I). After that, during the interwar era German veterans held a fondness for Turkey due to Ataturk fighting off occupying powers and lingering sentiment from the war. After the Nazis were defeated, Germany became neutral towards Turkey, even the acceptance of Turkish guest workers were due to US pressure on the German government who tried to weasel out of the agreement on multiple occasions.

Merkel's personal views do not count for Germany as a whole, do not make that mistake.

No one is Turkey's true friend, except Azerbaijan. Countries we call NATO allies and the west in general keep backstabbing us at every turn. But we can't be allies with the east either, because our interests don't exactly allign in most things. Turkey is too big to accept the role of a vassal and loyally obey a master. When Turkey follows its own interests, that angers this side or that side. So what Turkey has been doing is following the balance policy, a method Ottoman Empire used during its weak last centuries. Exploiting the conflicts and disputes between big powers, for its own interest and survival. See, we I believe most Turkish users here know better than blindly love the west. They treat Turkey unfairly and definitely not friendly. Some of that because of Erdoğan's big mouth and faulty politics though. I think the relationship between Turkey and the west unlikely to be fixed untill Erdoğan loses the election and we have a new president. After that, depending on the president and his politics, we'll see what happens.
Delusions tbh!!
I just want to remind you that during the period of 2002-2010, Erdo was considered as one of West's best friends. I still remember when Erdogan was posted on the cover of the Times magazine in 2011 FFS!
Pls tell me what did Turkey gain in this period?
Nothing but pure chaos from the peace treaty with radical kurds to the bombing of major cities like Istanbul by the kurds. In Syria, during 2012, the US asked Erdo to not intervene in the conflict and he obeyed and what did we get in return? PKK got more equipment, supplies, and built more bases and caves and strengthening their supply network both in Iraq and Syria which ended up in turkish citizens and soldiers being killed
When Turkey downed the Russian jet, who aided it? Most of the hypocritical assholes criticised Turkey for downing the jet that supposedly belongs to the archenemy of the West.

You need to understand Turkey's standing in the Western alliance. The West never asked Turkey to be a NATO member out of free will or the thought of being equals but just for the pure sake of having canoon fodder against Western enemies... When such canoon fodder begins to ask for rights and pursue its own policies, the West gets angry and tries to chamge the ruling party either directly or indirectly

You ppl need to wake up since the world order is already cracking.... being late any more will just coat you guys more and who knows..... the next time you guys may not be able to progress through sweat alone but you may have to spill blood

Just look at this if you guys have forgotten👇
images.jpeg.jpg

It is only after 2015 that Erdo became a true patriot and started to actually hunt the PKK as well as speed up the domestication of the arms industry....
What did Erdo get in return? Decrease investments from the EU, harsh media campaigns against him, as well as bullshit human rights on the kurdsih issue

If a new president came and he wants to fix things, the only way will be to bow to the West again; however, as the saying goes "Fool me once, shame on you; Fool me twice, shame on me"

if the turks cant even recognise this fact, then I guess it is fate that Turkey will always be a secondary character in the world order and I assure you that as long as you are a secondary character in the world geopolitics, you will always be the first in line to get destroyed either when the world order changes or during warfare.... just look at the Russia-Ukraine conflict.... Turkey is providing ToT on drone technology to Ukraine while Germany is providing 5000 helmets and yet the West has the audacity to ask Turkey for more support in the conflict while they remain protected within their so-called utopia

This is why I hate the opposition. Turkey will just repeat the same bloody cycle with none being the winner. Another 20 years and the AKP will rise to power again and who knows whether they will be western slaves again or not...but with Turkey losing a whole 20 years from its future in a world where every year makes a bloody difference..... TBH, Iam fed up with this repetitive foolish cycle that just eats away from both the Turkish potential and Turkish lifespan itself

If Russia completes a successful invasion that takes a large amount of Ukraine's territory then Zelensky & current Ukrainian government will look like the biggest Idiots in world history.

Instead of their "don't panic war is not going to happen" talk they should have mobilized at least 250 000 armed & ready reservists by now. They are nowhere near that number...
Mobilization is something that does not really work in today's wars. Tiny professional mobile group with ATGMs is much more dangerous for an invader than a company of poorly trained guys with guns. Who will panic after first Grad attack.

Yeah in general i find supporters of political Islamism need a western best friend, for a long time it was Russia in Turkey which shows their level of intelligence. For others we see Germany a country that is generally anti-Turkey and its admiration for Turks and Turkey stems from as you pointed out Ataturks success at defeating the allied invasion, while the germans of 60 million with the best industry on earth got occupied, while the Turks of 10 million under Ataturk succeeded where they failed.

God knows how many sanctions and embargoes are placed against for defending her regional interests. And no nation in europe can pressure Germany to sanction or embargo Turkey, they do it on their own will.

Germany is only a name but what counts is who is in power in that land, in the UK and elsewhere.

nothing funnier than being a forum filled with turkish pro-west users that get shit on, on a daily basis by the west. I thought the mighty ottomans would have some respect for themselves here at least. :(
Quit quasi intellectualism, what are in the end? Russian, Ukrainian or something else? If you don't know what you are why do you state what and how Turks should see your problems?
Russia is big country with resources yet the economy is smaller then Spain. Let's face it you just want to eat other's people bread and you believe that you have something to offer to this world and if you don't get it then you think that is conspiracy against you. I should know that I saw a plenty Western Bulgarinas ( Serbs) , always the same story. Thieves, liars, cowardly killers etc proven time and again. At least have some decency to show your real flag , be a man

"muuuuuhh they would never do that" remember the pro-nato folks here spamming this shit when i reminded them that turkiye is part of nato and article 5 comes with its consequences.

Time to leave, i say that over and over again or some enormous headaches will come in the coming years, these small, irrelevant states will be swallowed by russia one way another.

Beside loss of mutual cooperation which remains to be seen how could it be compensated, this agression from Russia towards Ukraina is God's given opportunity for aspirinig powers such is Turkyie, lot of incoming reshuffle in international relation from which you can benefit tremendously if you play your moves smart.
Stage is set for couple of decades of some hybrid form of cold war but this time do not throw all eggs into western basket.

Yeah, I would like to see those ATGM videos like the one we saw in Syria. The TOW missile destroyed the 6th largest tank fleet in the world (Syria), Javelin would be another level of beast.

Not when it comes to sanctions like restricting ammunition and engine sales. No nation carries as much clout within the EU as Germany and no nation in the EU can tell Germany to sanction or not sanction Turkey. So if Germans sanction Turkey as they have done in many military fields, they have done it under their own considerations.

Not even the USA could stop the Germans from partaking in the nord stream, meanwhile you think france or italy can pressure germany?

really depends, if you have an Ataturk all of this choas is an opportunity for Turkey. But if you have AK party you could get results as seen in syria. Turkey could involve themselves, sustain all the cost, get 10 million Ukrainian refugees and then have both the west and east unite in Ukraine against you as happened in Syria. Then when a terrorist faction comes along they either support it against Turkey or they slander Turkey as being behind it.
