In australia we are now having intense debates about our energy future.

People in this country dont want to have a honest debate about nuclear, energy, solar, hydro you name it.

I used to be anti nuclear but now im willing to listen to it. I feel like nuclear energy is the way to go.

Thank goodness we didn't follow EU's path to mess with Russia, if China did the same, there would be a knockout blow to the Chinese economy due to the sheer amount of energy we consume.

You are just making up for your deficit that you had, all other countries on the list maybe apart from India had already build their grid according to their needs, all this graph tells us is that China has a big population.
Its not like Europe or USA have deficit in electricity generation now.

All airports and airlines struggle now but not because of energy crisis, its because they let staff go during pandemic and cant cope with the demand now due to labor shortage, the market is now regulating itself.

Labor shortage is present in every single sector right now.

I mean with the SSN program now, Australia is going to have nuclear fuel presence and handling at various places anyway.

Once you commit to that (over next few decades), it doesn't make much sense to be anti-nuclear in the power grid.

It just involves application of the same levels of robust safety again that Australia will be doing for its SSN fleet anyway.

Might as well make a good sized hedge for the power grid earlier than later.

The problem with green technology is they are not able to provide the base load for the grid and storage tech (batteries or hydrogen etc) will take time to catch up to degree needed to make them really viable in this (compared to end-point and local only).

Anyway lets see.

Every anti nuclear argument I come across is muh Chernobyl or Muh Fukushima.

I understand if a nuclear power plant melts down or explodes that turns the place into a radiation wasteland. I understand peoples fears as nobody wants a cherbobyl or fukushima where thousands have left their homes and livelihoods.

But a nuclear plant going off is really irrational fear when there is numerous factors why Chernobyl happened it was a nuclear power plant that cut so many corners with a shit design and shit safety features. Russians have numerous nuclear accidents. But its still irrational as the Russians did not care about safety.

If they are so concerned about Chornobyl or Fukushima they should have supported thorium reactors. Thorium reactors are inherently safe because of how they operate.

India's population is surpassing China's, and the vast majority of the electricity consumption in China goes to industries and manufacturing, not civilian consumption.

If I were Putin I would cut the gas supply completely as long as I can. Sure Russia will also feel the effects but Russia can endure it longer than the EU. EU will be in total chaos in 6 months Russia can probably endure not selling gas to the EU for years.

EU needs a wake-up call of some sort. This will also benefit Turkiye. You will see how their attitude will change against Turkiye. And no Turkiye won't be affected that much. EU will buy Turkish products regardless of how the EU economy performs. Turkiye exports low-cost high-quality products. More European companies might switch to cost-effective Turkish products.
