This looks a lot bigger than the F-16 AESA and looks to have a lot more T/R modules. IMHO this might be the mock-up of the TF-X/MMU radar antenna. Something will be shown at IDEF'23. The delivery schedule of BURFIS is 2025-2026 period.

Virkator Development Project (VIRGEP) - BTE

what is a VIRCATOR?

A vircator is a special electron tube for generating short, very powerful microwave pulses.

Very important against EMP weapons, and it seems our efforts have paid off in this area.
a big compliment to our TÜBITAK BILGEM scientists.

With the development of technology in recent years, the armies of many modern countries have been heavily equipped with electronic circuits and hardware, especially in their vital systems such as air Defence and military communications.
Systems such as communications and computing that involve electronics can dissipate high power directional electromagnetic energy. In this case, owning such technology is of great importance in order to gain effective power and strategic superiority over a fully electronically modernized army in possible war situations.
In this respect, it has become necessary to develop new technologies for the development of systems that can produce this effect both in defense and in attack. In this context, they form the basic components of the energy systems managed by the VIRGEP project;

R&D activities are carried out for the structures of
•pulse shaping interface,
• Virkator high-performance microwave generator,
• High performance microwave antenna carried out.
Overall, detailed constructions are created in the laboratory environment and computer simulations and analyzes are carried out with three-dimensional models. In addition, activities for the development and manufacture of laboratory prototypes are carried out and successfully completed.

The most up-to-date fighter AESA radar development roadmap. Unfortunately, we can't read it. The first star must be Akıncı and the second one is F-16. The third star might be Kızılelma.

EHSIM decoy will find a very comprehensive usage Platform not only in War Springs but also in Akinci, Aksungur, Anka TB3 Kizilelma and TIUS.

Opsin Electro Optical Systems

This is my personal opinion that will be mentioned a lot in our company in the future. Currently, there is a wide customer base from Aselsan to Baykar, from the Ministry of Defense to Meteksan.

Rekrom Optoelektronik

Recently, investments in Electrooptics and Optics have started to increase, good developments for our country.
I will try to inform you, my dear Forum Friends, about such investments and the products of the companies whenever I find the opportunity.

First of all. Akinci’s Aesa radar and the F16 Aesa radar are totally different in size. Akinci uses a smaller diameter Aesa radar. Even I. Demir mentioned this during one of his interviews.
That means the number of T/R modules on the Akinci Aesa are a lot less than F16’s. F16 will probably have a little more than 1000 modules.
This means Akinci power distribution system is simpler than F16’s.

Can it be that there are few parts that Aselsan was not able to procure from abroad to provide the bigger radar’s higher needs? In the meantime, may be, they are using Akinci as a test bed to iron out any unforeseen events with the GaN modules and during which time produce locally, those parts that they weren’t able to obtain.
So when all is ready next year they can fit the radar on to F16 and hopefully will not have to do a lot of tweaking.
All we can say is “better late than never”!
We have to remember that this is a very strategically important game changer piece of technology that Aselsan is producing. No one will give it you, even if you tried to pay for it. A bit of patience is needed I think. Everyone in the SSB and the forces and Aselsan know how important this piece of tech is.

Hi, I want to ask some questions.

Everybody speak about to power demands of the aesa radar. Also because of that (according to explanations I understand) we cant use aesa radar at full capacity . Especially for Akinci (for limited number 8-12) , I expect to see very powerful aesa radar like mini Awacs with modified nose section like mini Airbus Beluga. My first question Is it possible to integrate an APUs (axualary power unit)? For that purpose especially we have pd series engines can work at high altitudes already tested and on shelf. With load sharing they can produce good amount of power and can feed aesa radar. With that we can obtain very important ability to integrate our network.
Secondly for F16, again aesa radar limited because of power generation . My second question about that. Is it possible to integrate a battery pack has similar dimensions and weight like Mk82 or sniper pod? Seems to me (may be I'm wrong) an F16 needs limited time (1 hour max ) needs extra electrical power for driving full capacity aesa radar with the aid of that pods we can feed aesa radar power demands. I know it has some disadvantages firstly reduced payload, secondly we have to make structural changes. But contrary to disadvantages,
F16 radar capacity increase and . It easily manage to fire long range air to air , air to land, sea missiles. Also with obtaining this ability we can modernize other friendly countries planes.
