Emete Gözügüzelli:
"Our contractors" said that “Maras can not be opened” and then Turkish contractors engaged. (Ahmet Tolgay)
No one asked Turkish Cypriot contractors, no one even knew it until Erdogan declared just before elections so now TOKİ and AKP just step in, I really wonder how much they are paying this lady to spread lies. You guys should know better how these contractors thing managed in government tenders. I would not be surprised if Cengiz Kolin Limak be the one to re-construct the Maraş.. This TOKİ news even shocked Tatar fans haha.

Should be exported to Turkey. Great accomplishment by KKTC.
Those lazy Turkish Cypriots have potential to produce anything and have a well educated workforce but politics always prevent such things. I don't think it will be exported to Turkey. It will bankrupt like others.

For example we are exporting Chicken to Northern Iraq(Erbil) but can't export it to Turkey. After 1974 most of the industrial capabilities of Cyprus remained in the North, yet politics destroyed it. Even they disassemble factories and move the machinery to Turkey.

It is not too related or recent thing but I want to give Bixi Cola example, once Produced By Northern Cyprus, how a popular brand destroyed. While coke produced in Turkey has low custom tax like all Turkish brands when they are imported by TRNC, our Bixi cola faced harsh custom taxes and tariffs. Every year tons of potatoes spoil while waiting in customs of Turkey. Hürriyet never writes about this, they only show casinos and whore houses.

Sovereign state is the only solution. I think the car stands a chance as it’s developed and supported by local businessman. Solar panels should also be devoped.

I fail to understand the purpose of continuing on same track where reunification is mentioned.

Surely it would be in KKTC interest to make UN put two outcomes on the table 1. reunification 2. sovereign state.

Especially pointing out the Annan plan/voting as basis for UN failure and favoritising GC despite the outcome.

I bet you that UN will never entertain the thought of sovereign state for KKTC because of it's strategic importance. So forcing the topic is the only option.

If someone sees a better solution please let us hear.

Throughout this tread, I try to emphasize this. Tatar will offer land, he will talk reunification etc. I wonder will this be in the headlines as "traitor is giving land". Unfortunately citizens of Turkey are being manipulated by the media and social media so easily. This is a process and framework since 1975, Denktaş did the same, Talat, Akıncı etc. It is a state policy and strict framework that you have to obey.

Election is over so populism as well. Akıncı has never been a traitor and none of the other Turkish Cypriots as well. Whoever is the president will sit that table and do the peace talks in U.N.'s terms and be in coordination with Turkey. So don't be surprised.

Surely if KKTC is going to break free of the vicious cycle it's caught in where the filthy western nations (IMO) pretend Enosis wasn't attempted. Then we must go for sovereign state.

Btw how many land plot are there in KKTC that GC have a claim on ?

I was thinking they could be allowed ownership, and come live in KKTC. But no voting rights. sort of like residency permit only.

There is two side of this story.. Turks left properties in the South, Greeks left in the North and it is unbalanced a lot in favor of Greeks. But we formed a court for giving back properties OR compensation to them which saved us billions of compensation from AIHM, thanks to Leftist Government back in 2008. We are not giving every property because may be a Greek left a land and we may have an apartment block on it now, so they get either money, property back or exchange in the South. (This is the system accepted in Annan plan, and we are doing it without consent of Greek Side, which also welcomed by EU a lot back in 2008)

The other part of the story is the land controled by the states. back in 1960s. Turkish Cypriots was the 25% of the population but we get 30% control/representation over the Republic. 1974 some decision have taken during operation on the field, and land taken beyond the maps (greenline) agreed by US, UK Turkey and NATO. Maraş is a clear example, no military action had taken for Maraş but residents flee and troops find empty city to move in. Today TRNC controls 36% of the island. Since 1975, in all talks we offered to give back 7% to Greek side including Maraş and Greenline area. So even Denktaş accepted +29% for Turkish State whether sovereign or part of a federation. This is a state policy whether Turks in Turkey understand or not, it did not changed for years. Perception in Turkey is so manipulated. Of course greeks want 75% but no way....! They make unacceptable claims to sabotage talks and protect status quo. That is why we need stronger TRNC, not more depended and corrupt one.

After Tatar got elected as neutral President, by law his party have to have an internal election to find its new leader. First round have been held and one of the candidates Faiz Sucuoglu was about to win. He would become the new leader and new prime minister. Suddenly they cancelled and postponed the process which is against all traditions and laws. By law they have to elect it in 45 days but saying that it will be postponed for 10 months. The rumors are that some guys from Turkey visited candidates and requested their withdrawal by threatening that Turkey will cut the aid which TRNC haven't received for 3 or 4 years. I wonder if Turkey do the same to those other who receive aid like Somalia and Libya. Once again it is rumored that AKP involved internal politics of TRNC destabilizing the country.

TC lands in the south are hopefully talked about and discussed. But the twitter says TC lands in south aren’t being discussed.

Everyone who left land in the south got "eşdeğer" land in the North, and even some traitors sold their land in the south which should be controlled by and belong to TRNC. I don't know what this guy mean by 3/4.. but TCs were 25% of the population back in 1960s. Although being 1/4 of the population TCs owned more land than Greeks during Ottoman times, then being poor farmers, they sold them through 1900s. Brits confiscate Turkish lands (like marash) So in 1974 we don't have much land left and Greeks left far more land in the North than Turks left in the South. (We had an population exchange after war, IF we had the balance in properties, and exchanged it, there would be NO Cyprus Issue right now.) TRNC have not recognized because of Greek Lands Problem.

This guy don't know what he is talking about and probably ignorant or attention seeker.

TC Lands have always been on the TABLE.. It is an ultimate bargaining chip, like Maraş. Government gave these people land in the North and Government should have authority over the Lands in the south. It is always on the table but not for individuals. Our Courts trying to solve these issues and offering compensation or exchange land to Greeks. This was in the Annan plan like all peace deals. We are trying to exchange those lands and pay compensation or return excess Greek Lands to solve this issue. We are not living in 19th century, you cannot conquer individuals properties. All the problems and embargoes we have faced is just because of this simple mistake..

"At this stage for the Turkish people of Cyprus, an understanding on a federal basis that has been maintained since 1977 does not give much hope, and therefore it is time to sit at the table with new ideas," Tatar said.

“The concept of a federation no longer offers any hope and new options should be discussed," Tatar told reporters.

Bullshit. Read the news first. Do not lie. In the article, Tatar clearly stated that the federation was not included in the negotiations.

Erdogan: 2-state solution in Cyprus must be discussed

A two-state solution needs to be negotiated in Cyprus on the basis of sovereign equality, Turkey's president said on Sunday.

"There are two different people and two separate states in Cyprus. The 2-state solution needs to be negotiated on the basis of sovereign equality," said Recep Tayyip Erdogan, speaking at a ceremony on the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus's (TRNC) 37th anniversary.

Turkish Cypriots are the only victims in the Cyprus issue and have been ignored for years as their rights were usurped, Erdogan stressed.

Ankara's priority is to reach a sustainable solution in Cyprus and ensure the legitimate rights and security of Turkish Cypriots, he added.

On the recent partial reopening of the abandoned town of Maras in the Turkish Cypriot city of Gazimagusa, Erdogan said this step was meant to eliminate existing grievances, not create new ones.

The island has been divided into a Turkish Cypriot government in the north, and Greek Cypriot administration in the south since a 1974 military coup aimed at Cyprus' annexation by Greece.

Turkey's military intervention as a guarantor power in 1974 put an end to years of persecution and violence against Turkish Cypriots by ultra-nationalist Greek Cypriots.

The abandoned town of Maras in Gazimagusa, also known as Famagusta, partially reopened for public use on Oct. 8.

Maras had so far been a ghost town to which entry was forbidden, except for Turkish army personnel stationed in the TRNC.

2 state solution has to be it. History shows no reconciliation with these people are possible. You reunify? Say goodbye to Turkish Cypriots as a people as Europe watches with it's hardening dick in it's hand as it presides over yet another ethnic cleansing.
