Turkish Aerospace Industries is present at the IDEX 2023 fair. T-129, Anka, Aksungur, Hürkuş and Hürjet platforms are being displayed at the static area. TAI did not bring the mock-up of the TF-X.
TAI is focusing on Hürkuş-2 at the moment.I know all the buzz is about Hürjet and MMU right now but I was wandering about whatever happened with Hürkuş-C, has TurAF ordered any?
That explains the lack of news then. I wonder what the changes are going to be like.TAI is focusing on Hürkuş-2 at the moment.

Better overall performance. I would expect a noticeable improvement in its thrust to weight ratio. Expect changes to the aircraft's wing geometry.what can we expect from Hurkus 2? Bigger and faster?
If it doesn't try to kill its pilots, that'd be more than enough. I believe it will be lighter as the fuselage will be mostly composite materiel.what can we expect from Hurkus 2? Bigger and faster?
Hürkuş isn't prone to killing its pilots. So no issues there. If it doesn't try to kill its pilots, that'd be more than enough. I believe it will be lighter as the fuselage will be mostly composite materiel.
Fazla paşa's recounting of the events makes one think differently. Nothing to be ashamed of. We learn by doing it wrong and then working on it.Hürkuş isn't prone to killing its pilots. So no issues there.
You see that isn't entirely true. I believe he referred to the situation they were in, and how unrecoverable the aircraft was after that. Not very definitive.Fazla paşa's recounting of the events makes one think differently. Nothing to be ashamed of. We learn by doing it wrong and then working on it.
I was wondering about that yesterday, even tried to find if there are single engine STOL planes around but couldn't find much. Could be an interesting choice for TCG Anadolu if they could actually make it a possibility, though I doubt it."One of our biggest dreams is to be able to fly HÜRKUŞ from a 200-meter-long deck with a 12-degree ramp…"
I never said that it was. But it is not a single incident as less than stellar flight characteristics of the plane was also talked about in the past. You see that isn't entirely true. As per my knowledge, nothing is wrong with the aircraft. There are contract related issues that are between TAI and the Air Force Command. Hürkuş-2 exists partially, to please the Air Force in that regard. We can't really say the aircraft is a killing machine based on a single accident.
I too was being sarcastic about the naval Hürkuş proposal.I never said that it was. But it is not a single incident as less than stellar flight characteristics of the plane was also talked about in the past.
Being a pilot with decades of experience, Özpala also knows that Hürkuş, a single engine turboprop trainer being employed aboard a carrier, let alone Anadolu is just absurd. If I was feeling sarcastic, I'd say he's offhandedly pitching the platform to the navy as the air force won't take it.

What we have is that Hürkuş in its current configuration was not accepted by TurAF. It was sold to middling African countries as COIN(?) planes, but the force wont take it. Gulenists are gone. Why won't they take it? Do they just think that KT-1Ts are just enough and there is no need for it? It's a turboprop trainer, TAI is literally building a stealth jet fighter. Why can't we just talk about what's wrong with the thing? It'll be 10 years this year after her first flight. It's like a flying Altay at this point, and god forbid it's even worse, as we have the engines for it available.
Not trying to fight with you on it or anything. At this point, I'm just bummed is all and this hush hush over this is making me itchy.
It has been a while since Hürkuş-2 passed through the CDR phase. And I don't think they had any LHD's in mind when designing her.Even if the Hurkus 2 was made armed, than still I fail to see the plus of it on an LHD. Maybe the trainer could function as a trainer to train crews for the double engine Hurjet 2 (carrier capable, if ever such thing is to be build), anyway even that sounds absurd
