İsmail Demir:

Our journey continues for the high-altitude ballistic missile interceptor system.

It will continue for another 5-6 years.

We are going there step by step.
İ wonder if SİPER could intercept tactical ballistic missiles with software upgrades as Spyder Derby LR does.

I think instead of rotating radar stationary radar could enable intercepting the TBMs.

Mr I. Sunnetçi gave very critical information about the range of the VWR missile.

If Gökdoğan Fox-2 matches AIM-120B in range, then it is the longest ranged WVR missile in existence. Longer than the Sidewinders, longer than the MICA.
If its high off-boresight capabilities are on par with AIM-9X's, then it would be one hell of a beast :D

Yeah I think he mixed up the names. ~ 100 Km for Gokdogan and ~ 20 Km for Bozdogan.

The new preference are the 'Peregrin' missile. More range, agile and much smaller.

The effective range of Bozdoğan approaches AIM-120B there is no error in his tweet. Bozdoğan(140kg) has an effective range of around 35 km. AIM-120B(152kg) has an operational range of 50km. There is not a single example where AIM-120B hit a target 50km away.

Ballistic range(useless)>Operational range(useless)>Effective range>NEZ (No escape zone)

The longest-range kill ever recorded with an AIM-120C5/C7 is only 45km (Turkish F-16 downed Syrian L-39 Albatros). AIM-120C5/C7 has an operational range of around 100km.

I got the 120B's range info from this site:

Serves me right. I won't use this kind of unreliable sources ever again :D

Bro, it could be that.

But the thing is, for IIR missile like bozdogan I am not sure of the seeker would survive the heating beyond 60km. For example, MICA RF has range up to 80km but IIR variant's range limited to 60km because of its seeker.

Anyway, 50/60km would an insane range for gokdogan already.

It is just exhausting to see, how long these systems can take from first test firing to reach combat readiness and active deployment.

Hoping to see Atmaca deployed on BN ships in the near future.

Getting active deployement approval for ships probably takes longer than usual.

When you have 4-8 missiles(for Ada class) and no immediate reload option(you need to make port to reload) you really want to make sure that your missiles work. Especially when you want to replace allready proven missile.

But yes starting the tests mean you reach halfway through the project and not the end. It really is exhausting even though you knew that it takes time. I guess when you see the project materialized the wait became extra painfull :D
