Concerning OPV, as far as i heard both project are supposed be implemented simultaneously, but this was somewhat old news.
Anyway, the fact of the matter is, Navy wont delay the frigate program anymore.

Perhaps it's better if we select Turkey for this because of politics, price and ToT.

Exactly, considering long term geopolitical interests Turkey seems to be much safer and logical option compared to Europe and china.
And then of course, as you said there is the matter of cost and ToT.

Probably they are going to buy foreign built frigates as CDDL is not yet ready.We seriously lack modern vessels in our fleet and many of our ships will retire by 2030.

More ships of the same class may be built in bangladesh under the local frigate program once second dry dock is ready.

I think you overestimated it a bit too far. It depends on the cash-flow and how fast the govt can finish the project. It should take only three years to build it, four/five if we consider delay as it's Bangladeshi govt we're talking about. Within that time we can finish necessary work to proceed to construction. First vessel will be delivered in 3/4 years. So 6-8/9 years maximum depending on the pace of work. If BN doesn't want that then they can order first two ship from foreign countries.

But KSY is also expanding, the new yard could come into operation in three years, little bit before CDDL does cause land development progressed far already. And a 2900 tons frigate can be constructed there in maximum three years if it doesn't face any delay. And BN can designate the ship as frigate if it wants. So again, possible in 6-8/9 years maximum. Still not clear if BN can build frigate in the existing dockyard or not. Anyway KSY will finish the work first if all goes smooth so it has higher chance.

“We have the necessary spaces and manpower for support the construction of any big warship, the brand of which will be ‘Made in Bangladesh’. We have also a big dockyard. We are setting up a bid design house to design the warships,” he said.

He also disclosed that a ‘ship testing toeing tank’ will also be built at the CDDL.

Already answered that. Doesn't look like they want that as they are building design and testing facility here. They could've done it already if they wanted to IMO. It could be something new or based on a proven platform.

S.Korea is a better option for the vessel.Turkish missiles and Midlas vls can be added.

Then we can build the whole thing with Turkey instead of shipping Turkish missiles and Midlas vls to Korea or BD. It's friendlier and doesn't bow to US pressure.

about a month ago I somewhat unexpectedly met a senior navy officer who I knew for a while now, ( thanks to him, I had the chance to visit BNS Isa Khan 4 years ago and also to board a navy ship ) he always knew how enthusiastic I was about these stuff, so after a few words he just straight said to me,
'Our new frigates are coming from Turkey'
Obviously I was very surprised,
'Really?'
He replied, 'yes'
I asked, Is the deal finalized?
He said, 'yes, it happened a year ago, they came multiple times, we had negotiations, the first ship is supposed to be built there and later, others would be built here in the country.'

Unfortunately our conversation was short, but he sounded very confident in his remarks.
Obviously, I was super excited and later realized there are still some loopholes that I should have asked about.

For example, I should have asked, is the contract formally signed on paper? ( because, 'the deal is finalized still a vague description )

Or which Turkish Company is it?

What are the tonnage of ships?

When will construction going to begin?

That is why I was kind of reluctant to share what I just wrote.

I was hoping, next time I would have the chances to ask him these questions. And come to you guys with clear and complete info )


Anyway, I will advise you to not take this news with 100 percent certainty. Just keep a little room for other possibilities ( I mean, there is no way he gave me wrong information. But you know, sometimes even what we hear from the highest authorities doesn't become reality. For example if you remember, in n 2018 the MD of CDDL Commodore Mohammad Nazmul Karim literally said, two frigates will be commissioned in 2022, two by 2025 and two by 2030. But it never became realized. So you know what I am implying )

Personally i a have theory, if we are lucky enough they may announce the deal in this upcoming IDEF.

No, i referred to some other images by true fans. These ones are not.

Yes, these are derived variations, extended hull version of the OPV for an export customer.

1. The length would be around 110m.

2. The displacement would be around 3000-3500 tonnes.

3. Engine and main gun would be sourced from third countries.

4. The first ship would be built in Turkey. (as I stated before)

5. Contraction is likely to begin in late 2023 or early 2024. (He thinks there wouldn't be any problem with payment)

5. Lead ship would be delivered in three years. (36 months) In the mean time navy will develop necessary infrastructure to build the remaining ships of the class locally. (A project team will be sent to Turkey during lead ship contraction)

Doubt if they are hiring any naval architect. Seems like an industrial - mechanical engineer interested in naval platforms doing some designs and renders. Such a bravery to go for unorthodox designs at their first attempt.
