Production is expected to rise to 20% of consumption by the end of this year AFAIK. And a further rise to close to 50% can be expected in 3 years optimistically speaking. Electrification of cars will decrease consumption too in the long run.

Himmm it is quite huge resorce for Turkiye i hope we can reach this capacity as soon as possible, oil plus gas would be decrease our current account deficit enough. Already, our current account deficit is 100 billion dollars and the total cost of energy we import is 100 billion dollars. This can be help the economy recover faster....

I would add to that possible co-exploitation of some overseas resources like in Libya and other places which can effectively take our energy imports bill to zero in a 7 year time-frame. I expect a bright future in energy in the medium term.

Exactly also we should calculate nuclear energy which will be active very soon. It is possible for Turkey to become an energy exporting country in the next decade.

That requires a strong presence in the East-Med. Which we currently don't have.

Of course not. It is only that you want to start with easier to exploit places and move to hard to exploit ones. From land and shores to offshore locations; from nearer locations to far locations.

Regardless of the how much oil and gas is found. Pay attention that estimation on the size of the reserves found are not announced, which can mean it's either extremely low and talking about it won't get you any political points or they're not able to estimate it.

in Black sea they found a around 800 billion cubic, but they're talking about 1,5 billion on land. frankly speaking it's not worth the effort as the cost of bringing that oil up will cost you 5-100x times the amount it's worth.

Oil and gas are fossil fuels and not infinite, so if pocket sizes aren't mentioned then you know they're up to no good.

The Malikiye Kamışlı line must be cleared of terrorists as a matter of urgency. If you draw a rectangle 40-50 km deep from the Nusaybin-Silopi line, there is a potential to meet most of Turkiye's annual oil consumption. And probably the same potential is valid at the same depth south of the border.

The yellow pegs are the oldest areas where there are high oil findings on the surface and the presence of oil has been identified.
The white rectangle is where US-backed terrorist organizations have been defeated in TR but are still active in the south and US interfering in the sovereign rights of states in favor of these terrorist organizations. There are many geopolitical factors that will affect our future. Central Asia expansion and Black Sea/Caucasus policies, Balkan policies and Mediterranean/African expansion, etc. However, as we move to grand phases, solving the problem in our south is not a choice but a necessity. This is an Achilles heel. This is also a sine qua non for a lasting solution to the migrant problem. With the problem in our south, the most fundamental structural problem of our country's economy, energy independence, will be solved in parallel and this will provide a huge leverage for our reflection in other areas/legs.

TPAO and Worley - one of the world's leading engineering companies - signed a protocol for establishing an advanced engineering company. Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) reported that daily oil production has exceeded 70,000 barrels with the new discoveries made in the oil field.

Oil exploration activities have started in Kato Mountain. The oil reserves in Kato, which borders Şırnak and Hakkari, are expected to be several times higher than Cudi and Gabar. Step by step to energy independence.

Şırnak is taking firm steps towards becoming the base of Turkiye's most important oil fields perhaps even in the Middle East. Cudi, Gabar and Kato were the regions where the PKK terrorist organization was most active for decades. Oil discovery reported in Kato mountain. There are journalists that quote 5 times bigger than Gabar or 5 billion barrels but we should wait and see. BTW TPAO plans to add 100k barrels to the existing production capacity in two years. 2 years from now local production will increase to 170k barrels per day. It is a meaningful increase but still not enough to satisfy the oil thirst of our country. If Kato turns out such a huge find, in the future, Turkiye might satisfy half of its oil need from local production.
