Air Force Command is nowadays interested in Hürkuş-2 and not Hürkuş-B.
Let's hope they know exactly what they want this time around then. That has been one of our greatest weaknesses when it comes to designing/building our own vehicles.

According to the information obtained by SavunmaSanayiST.com, flight test activities of the National AESA fighter radar "MURAD" developed by ASELSAN will start very soon. Following the integration activities, an F-16 Block 30 ÖZGÜR fighter jet is planned to make its first flight with the MURAD AESA Radar in September 2023.

Mete Yarar has said that a prototype was sent to Baykar to test on AKINCI. If this news is also true, then there're, at least, two functional prototypes and they will be tested simultaneously.

One of the main goals of independent defense industry is to end our intellectual property and operational dependence to the outside. In this regard, it is our most vital issue to sell our platforms to friendly countries solely for our own benefits. If we reject some of big Muslim countries, which are our natural markets in order not to anger West in this regard, then who will we sell these systems? To what extent did they care about Turkiyes objection when they sold Scalp missiles to Greece or when they established a base in Dedeağaç or formed an alliance with PYD terrorists ? so Freedom will have to be realized not only at the platform level but also in a mental sense . Adjusting our foreign policy in order not to anger the Turk enemy lobbies which were influential in the US Congress, cannot be evaluated under the scope of freedom in this context because no matter what we do, they will always use even our existance as a reason of hostility in US political system.

The probability of Kaan having a big Western partner or customer is almost not possible. In this case, we are approaching times when we will decide scope and depth of our strategic relations with all our friends by using our technological instruments witout thinking approval of others and if necessary, we will even change the status quo the regions in our favor. This situation will directly harm Western benefits indeed and they will try to threaten us with different instruments but no steps will be taken before these calculations are done.

As for embargo, as I said, in the current conjuncture, opening a new embargo page against Turkiye will damage interests of the West in the region in this climate so they cant take this risk. Probably F110 engines will also be produced in Turkiye. The most they can do is prevent the sale of engines to the Kaans to be sold to Pakistan in future but as they know, we are in the last 10 years when they can threaten us with embargo rhetorics. This process will probably end in 2033/34 and they know very well that at the end of this process, Turkiye will have domestic engines like China. It doesn't make sense to take risks for processes that they cant stop so I think they will enter into a race to make more cooperation contracts with Turkiye and to get a bigger share from the market that will be created. In this process, they will learn to digest new World order in order to use Turkiye's influence for their own benefit. Turkiye will also form a new structure with TFX KAAN under its own influence. Next to the Western(US/Europe/S.Korea), Russian and Chinese tech block, a new block of countries using Turkish aircrafts will be created as well. KAAN is such a platform that will create its own sphere of influence and unity among countries operating them. I think that Turk block will symbolize technological unity and sphere of influence, including nuclear power, mostly composed of Turk-Muslim majority countries some of which will be oil-rich. We will see it all together The countries that will operate Kaan will be those who are willing to deeply cooperate with Turkiye not only for industry but also in political area. Otherwise, these aircrafts will never be allowed to be sold to a country that may cause problems in the future.

I wouldn't stretch the timeframe that long.

About the F-16s

1.Are we still going to buy 40 F-16V and 79 upgrade kits?

2.These 40F-16V will produced in Turkiye or imported directly from US?

3.We had Özgür for all F-16,why we still need 79 upgrade kits?Can these 79 F-16s use domestic weapon?

There is a programme in Pakistan called PF-X. It is believed that this programme is a heavily localized version of JF-17, where the role of China is completely made redundant. Obviously, Pakistan will need the help of Turkish companies for this. Maybe Turkiye is interested in this final product as a work horse for the air force.

Tbh, JF-17 block 3 is not a bad aircraft. It's capabilities are superior to many F-16 blocks. A China-free Turkiye-upgraded JF-17 Block 4 could be a very good and affordable solution for Turkiye while KAAN matures.

SU-25 is 50 year old trash and buying any military equipment from Russia would the single most stupidest thing anyone could do right now, especially for us.

Even most frequent buyers of Russian equipment is having second thoughts, especially after the humiliation they suffered and keep suffering in Ukraine. Of course people are going to laugh at a suggestion like that.

He did not suggest to acquire Su-25 from Russia. Just look at the Su-25 Turkiye upgraded for Azerbaijan. It is a monster!

Monster? It's still a 50 year old obsolete design that has been upgraded, no different than our F-4s. It does is job but has no place in the inventory of any country that wants to be a serious air power in their region.

Su-25's aren't the Sukhoi's to adopt. In the era of UCAV's and PGM's like MAM-L the concept of a CAS jet has lost its luster.
I'd say if we had to adopt a Sukhoi fighter, it should be a thoroughly modernized, Özgür Su-35's!

There are those that believe that electronics and modern avionics accompanied by a good Aesa radar is what makes a good fighter jet; irrespective of how new or old the plane is.
When you think that a twin turbojet engine powered F4 Phantom broke the world altitude record of 98557ft in 1959 and a sustained altitude flight record of 66443ft, modernising an F4 with new avionics and electronics by the above logic should create a monster of a plane too.

But it doesn’t work like that when it comes to a modern jet fighter design. Airframe is of paramount importance. You may have a good engine and avionics. But if not accompanied by a good airframe it is at a loss. Materials used in the plane, how good the stealth characteristics are all make a difference in a modern jet fighter. High Manoeuvrability of a modern fighter jet is vital. Engine/s used make a difference too.

In Turkish we have a saying: “Even a golden saddle won’t change the fact that a donkey is a donkey”

My favorite of all time.
F4 are iconic planes. Almost “Jack-of-all-trades” kind of aircrafts . Naval versions, Air Superiority versions, Air to Ground attack versions, reconnaissance versions. You name it they have it.
But they were too rigid and old tech. One of my colleagues’ dad was a f16 pilot. He used to say they could start for take off together on the run way with an f4. His f16 would take off , make a loop, then make a touch and go take off and catch up with the f4 at the end of the runway just taking off. Whether that was an exaggeration to stress how cumbersome f4s were, I wouldn’t know. But nevertheless they are bulky and slow to react planes If compared to more modern jets.
