When you realize that GDP and GDP per capita don't always translate to industrial power
What a hilariously bad post.
The EU has provided Ukraine with well over 1 million shells in both NATO and Soviet standard calibers, dating back to the onset of the conflict. The 1 million shells promise from the EU came in late February 2023. The shells were to be delivered over the course of 1 year, by the end of February 2024. 300,000 of THOSE 1 million shells have been delivered, not 300,000 shells total.
Next, people continue to act like the countries supporting Ukraine are short on weapons. That's not nearly the case. They're short on artillery, tanks and IFVs (with the exception of USA) because that's not what NATO's strength is built on. Modern NATO militaries are built on air and sea power, where as Russia (and North Korea) continue to largely employ Cold War type inventories of weapons, supplemented by some newer technology.
Ukraine isn't going to out-produce Russia in artillery shells, but they don't have to. It's better for the West to focus on quality of precision shells, long range drones that out-range Russia's artillery. The goal shouldn't be to saturate the battlefield with shells that aren't precise. The goal needs to be precision targeting and counter battery fire against Russia's artillery systems themselves. It's going to be far more effective for Ukraine to focus on wiping out batteries of Russian guns, than it will be for them to attempt to trade artillery shells back and forth in volumes. Quality over quantity will be of primary importance to the Ukrainians throughout this war.
