Imo, Houthis should massively mine the strait.

Deploy speed boats, dhows and everything that sails and start mining the Mandeb strait.

That will add additional headache on shipping on the strait. Let's turn the red sea into a naval equivalent of Afghanistan where no one move without the fear of mines (IED) around them. Minesweeping is one area the U.S Navy has long neglect since the end of the Cold war.

I support it :)
Its the best way to guarantee both Egypt and China eliminate all Houthis pretty fast and for good ;)

Ehhh even if they want to they can't.

For one, Chinese anti piracy task force in the area actually didn't respond to any of the attacks attacks, even though they're nearby.

Second, If you missed anything the redirection of both assets and attention of Western navies to the Middle East is a big relief for China's ambition in the Pacific, and a big blow to America's so called " pivot to the Pacific" which in one way or another failed to be implemented since its announcement back during the Obama administration. LOL.

Third, even if Egypt would want to do anything about that, at max they're sending warships...guarding a sea lane that nobody uses anymore.

Invading Yemen is out of the question, because the last thing Al-Sisi wants is to be seen as openly complicit to the Israelis + the Egyptian army isn't that big of an expeditionary force to begin with. They tried once, get bloodied in the nose, never to try similar attempt ever since

Let's see are the shares in Israeli shipping companies will perform better or the prices of petrol. Something tells me it is latter.

The blockade seems to be harming Egypt more so than Israel. Israeli shipping company stocks are all up.

Countries that import a lot are losing.

Container demand goes up, companies that lease those containers make huge profits as price goes up because as ships have to travel further, fewer containers are available.

This cost will get passed to the consumer.

Countries that rely a lot on maritime transport for imports suffer inflation. This won't just impact the west, but also TR.

Likely it won't be significant unless this continues for a while.

Israeli Army Says 13 Soldiers Killed in Gaza Were Mistakenly Identified as Hamas Members

The Israeli army adds that an additional seven soldiers were killed in other operational accidents during the war. So far, 105 soldiers have been killed in Gaza since the ground operation began

You see it as a hardship . I see it as an opportunity for a moslem country shipping companies . The only question is how long and how severe it is to make it viable enough as a profitable shipping ecosystem

There is always an option not to do anything. The poor people should think about the inflation in Germany and in return get a bit of bone. Or maybe there is an option, not to f with everyone and it wouldn't come to such situations. Maybe Israel should pay or USA out of the package for Israel for these thing.
When it comes to Libya or Syria and also for the benefits of PKK, suddenly the influx of millions of the refugees doesn't really matter for the inflation or any " hardships ".
Edit. Having lived in UK, I realise that even the products which come let's say Brazil, will get more expensive. Naturally it is due to the problem in Bab Al Mandheb. As usual in the end in some systems, any trouble is the opportunity.

One way to camouflage mines. Hiding its launch rail to look like an oil drum

Houthis could modify the Arabian traditional Dhows, modify its stern with ramp doors, and start mining heavily the waterways of the Red Sea

The idea is not even to sink/damage cargo ships, but to make the danger so high that shipping companies were forced to take the "safe" option to turn around and sail along the Horn of Africa (which is treacherous for Shipping). In the end, these business will definitely be confronted between losing ships to the perceived danger to dock in Eliat or just adding extra cost, they'll definitely choose the latter.

An Eilat deprived of traffic means an Eliat that deprive its citizens of work, hezbollah in the north has done quite good job to basically turn the entire northern settlers into refugees, adding another town or two in the south deprived of economic opportunity is way to go.
