What is the need for Aksungur then if Akinci can be the same long-endurance beast with PD-222 engines? It seems Aksungur will not receive the same amount of orders as the Akinci. Doesn't bother me though, TAI is already a big, diverse and healthy company compared to Bayraktar. TAI won't miss out on future contract for whatever air platform there will be designed/produced.Akinci will come out in 3 base versions

According to my calculations (which are obviously in error, had to guess the max speed of 450 hp version from statements etc and start from there... I just did it for fun a while ago and to see what kind of HP is needed), three versions will have max speeds aroundAkinci will come out in 3 base versions

That would almost make it modern days' U-2 (65,000-72,000 ft)In trials, Akinci exceeded 30000ft altitude with 450hp engines. If This drone can climb 55000-60000ft, Targetting Akinci with SAM systems will be just a pipedream for enemy. Only Patriot and Aster-30 like systems will be able to reach the level Akinci will fly. Akinci with its AESA radar on nose and long range AA missiles under the wings will give a serious headache to enemy aircrafts when they are operated inside advanced network.

2- 170-190 knots IAS
3- 200-220 knots IAS
For higher speeds like 250 KTS IAS we need a different airframe and/or more powerful engines like TS1400 delivering more than 1500hp.
Edit: I think they can fly faster in a dive, so instead of max speed think max operational speed. The point is huge HP requirement for faster speeds.

Don't make me laugh. The first jet- UCAV will definitely be developed by TAI. TAI is the only institute who has knowledge on jet engine integration, jet avionics and such, more importantly on development of jet-fighters. Probably Hurjet will be the first unmanned platform where everything regarding to jet-UCAV will be tested.The first UCAV that we will probably see is the MIUS of Baykar

Akıncı is near completion, what do you think Baykar engineers will do after that? LOL. They had announced their plans many years ago already. They even coined the name MIUS for it. They even said F35 would be the last manned fighter. LOL. It is up to which company will beat the other to it. TAI slated 2023 for first flight of Hürjet. Baykar have a good 3 years till then. I believe Baykar is well underway with MIUS works. TAI maybe targeting for larger size UCAVs but Baykar can target whatever they wish, with no restriction as their success or failure is only their problem. Baykar doesn't have unlimited number employers or engineers which can be invested in jet studies. I don't know if they do something with Ukrainians, or whether Turkish Army accepts such a solution.
With all the domestic engine projects that are coming to fruition every day there are no more excuses for not making myriads of flying machines. However the funding issues still hinder aviators. Too bad ingenuity and money did not meet in the same hands.There is more than enough room for 2 players in Turkish aviation. After short term projects we should investigate new aerodynamic configurations and structures. Aircraft and drones like those comes to mind:
