Apparently, all of Roketsan's guided artillery rockets will be certified for AKINCI (and possibly KE) as air-to-ground missile variants. A very interesting fire support doctrine is emerging.
I think we just found the basis for Baykar's bigger Akıncı model.Semi related:
"Baykar to purchase Italian aircraft builder Piaggio Aerospace, most known for their P.180 Avanti."
All the property rights or patents of this project-related subsystems and structures developed in relation to this project may not be owned in their entirety by piaggio. Leonardo was also in this canceled/stalled program.Piaggio also dabbled with UAVs albeit not that enthusiastically.
Piaggio P.1HH HammerHead & Piaggio P.2HH HammerHead with only a single prototype each in 20113 and 2018 respectively.
Italy and through Leonardo in particular, has been a very good partner so far primarily within the T129 program. All the property rights or patents of this project-related subsystems and structures developed in relation to this project may not be owned in their entirety by piaggio. Leonardo was also in this canceled/stalled program.
Piaggio had some advantages with this airframe, and this was a topic of discussion in forums years ago. The most important thing that I remember is that the aircraft had a very good minimum control speed ( I think it is important for UAV derivative), and most importantly, a higher maximum speed and cruising speed than any turboprop aircraft in this class. This really gave Avantia a significant advantage in the business jet market.
Another detail is that the aircraft uses a PT-6 engine. Piaggio aerospace's aero-engine department also has long-term complete maintenance, repair and overhaul agreements with PW. If you ask me, this may be one of the most important advantages this acquisition will provide to Baykar.
Too many times. It actually had Turkish owners for a short time. How many times has this company being sold and acquired back again?
What is the strategy or goal of this purchase?Piaggio also dabbled with UAVs albeit not that enthusiastically.
