Ömer Yıldız from TAI:
"We need a target aircraft that flies at high speed, at supersonic speed. We are developing a faster version of the ŞİMŞEK aircraft that you see here, especially for the need for a target aircraft that can simulate missiles at high speeds and supersonic speeds. Our aim with this was also to reach supersonic speed. These aircraft have equipment on them that we call radar cross-section enhancers, which can make them appear larger by up to ten square meters.
We can communicate continuously with the link systems on our aircraft. When we launch our target aircraft from ANKA, ANKA can transmit data to the ground. We can transmit images from the cameras on our target aircraft to the ground in this way. We plan to have our target aircraft, which can currently reach speeds of 0.9 Mach, reach speeds of 1.1 to 1.4 Mach. We can also transmit images from ANKA to infantry on the ground. Our development work on ŞİMŞEK continues. In this direction, we are working on different engine options and 4-squad formation flights."
