Not sure how reliable this source is, but its reporting an additional possible sale of 40 JF-17s for $4.2 billion

if we end up with 64 JF-17 Block 3s + Kaan (most likely 24 to 48) + Akincis + Kizilelma + Anka 4, that will be quite the Air Force

40 or 50 ?

Azerbaijan’s acquisition of at least 50 JF-17 Block III fighter jets from Pakistan, to be equipped with Turkish-manufactured missiles, aims to enhance the aerial combat capabilities of the Azerbaijani Air Force.

I believe the 40 is the additional number on top of the current 24 on order, so total of 64 for $4.2 billion sounds more plausible than $4.2 billion for just 40, that would be more than $100 million per airframe. Although nothing is confirmed outside of the initial 24 currently on order.

Being a apart of HAKİM Air Command and Control System is a tremendous advantage. Eventhough For Azerbaijan having their own AEW&C plane may be a bit risky, eventually Azerbaijan will need a dedicated AEW&C

Turkey has plans on developing UAV based AWACS, perhaps the bigger Akinci can play that role, will be far cheaper and safer.

Would it be possible to have some of the JF17 stationed for training purpose in Türkiye, and or border patrol training and such.

Iran? With JF-17Cs, they have much better radars than any of ours now, and probably better BVR missiles save for C5s.

I am confident that PL-15E is better than C-5s.

To me this deal feels expensive. Pakistan bought 20 J10CE for roughly $1.5 billion. Including associated systems.

Its probably including the previous order of 24 JF-17s, so a total of 64 JF-17 Block 3s for $4.6 billion

That’s a big number for a country that only operated less than 15 Mig-29s for the last 30 years. 3 new squadrons? Costs make sense as they will need to buy everything associated with them and create squadrons from nothing. Multi year process.

initially it was 16, now increased to 40 with additional 24 aircrafts.

if it was 64 aircrafts in total, they would have mentioned it in their 'diplomatic victory' post. It specifically says, $4.6 billions to purchase 40 aircrafts.

Would make sense if Turkey was involved in increasing the numbers, it would maybe not be possible to buy jf17 for Turkey but if Azerbaijan bought more and stationed them in here temporarily as a stopgap measure under a unified command, that would make sense.
