The reaction of a group of important Arab countries, Egypt, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon and Bahrain, was provoked by Turkey's attempt to pass, through the decisions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation that met over the weekend in Istanbul, in the presence of T. Erdogan and H. Fidan, decisions that promote Turkish positions on the Cyprus issue but also on the supposedly "Turkish" minority of Thrace and the "Turkish" community of the Dodecanese.
This development in the OIC, and especially at the Summit held in Istanbul, did not come by chance, as Athens and Nicosia have worked systematically in recent years to ensure that friendly (to Greece) Arab and Muslim countries understand Turkey's effort to use the OIC to advance its claims against Cyprus and Greece, in a way that ultimately harms the excellent relations of Arab and Muslim countries with Greece and Cyprus, and of course with the EU itself.
