Minister Bayraktar met with Minister of Regional Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia Mr. Davit Khudatyan in Istanbul.

During the meeting, possible cooperation opportunities between Turkey and Armenia in the field of energy were discussed.

At today’s European Parliament meeting,Armenia’s Ambassador to Brussels,Tigran Balayan,said the EU should either put pressure on Türkiye or offer something in return to convince Ankara to open its border with Armenia. Balayan said that it should happen before the elections.

"We need a real breakthrough until the elections in Armenia, otherwise it can be too late. Because the Armenian government invested all its credit into this process." -Balayan said.

Former MP of the Turkish Parliament Garo Paylan said that the modernization of the EU-TR Customs Union agreement can convince Ankara to open its border with Armenia. Paylan described the opening of the Armenia - Türkiye border as a lifeline for Armenia.

I'm more interested in that last sentence, to be "partners that go on the offensive" or it can be read as "let's act together".

That is 50% exciting, and 50% scary. US doesn't have equal partners, that's now how they view the world. They are happy with leaving countries be in their small worlds but unless you're Israel, you don't get to pull US to the direction you want to go.

That could only mean that this very rarely talked about happenstances that's been going on since september with PKK, Syria, Gaza, Israel and Iran may be more linked together than we think. Where are we being led to? Why do I have a feeling that we won't like it?

I mean the next 15 years should be as less turbulent as possible for us until our biggest defense projects mature. But like i said without giving away our rights.

I am ready to take some heat, but I will write anyway.

May be not peace (not at least right now, may be later) but some sort of coolheaded approach is needed imho. Dont get me wrong, I curse Israel more than anyone for what they have been doing to Palestinians, but Turkiye and our interest must come always first.

There is a fanatical and fundamentalist government going on in Israel. Nobody knows what their move next is. It could be very well be us. We are not Iran, but not fully ready to confront them nonetheless, not at least five or ten years. They know it, we know it.

Also, when Netanyahu gone and if especially some sort of peace agreement is achived in Palestine, (I am not saying we will become allies once again, some sort of geopolitical dynamics are negating that), frankly there can be no reason to have adversity with them. Our each and every governments have always said "2 states solution", for that is true and realistic. We are not behaving like some fanatical Arabs that saying Jewish state must be destroyed. Also to not become enemies is a necessity, don't forget the Greeks!

Before the war, we had trade surplus with Israel, not to mention the tourists they send. In addition, in normal times, some of them and in no small part, have some sympahty towards us. At the end of the day, they were "the people of book" in Ottoman Empire and we protected them longer than any nation in history.

There can be no good relations with them for any government in Türkiye because of public opinion, as long as they massacered Palestinians, especially the way they doing.

But right now, we cannot afford the give an inklings of excuse to them, at least we can and should keep a little bit low profile and behave ourselves.
