Himars are equivalent of our TRG-230/300 systems, basically mobile rocket artillery launcher. As @TheInsider said, this is our GLSDB (Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb) equivalent. Which, I might be wrong but, only the second system like this as far as I know.
@TheInsider

Again, i don't write this to look like a smart as* and please don't get me wrong. But if you guys write it is "equivalent", then don't you think that someone, who is not familiar with the subject, will look up GLSDB and think like "Göktan will have same range, dimensions and capabilities"? Wouldn't it be more correct to write "same concept"?
Afaik according to the small amount of information we have about Göktan, it should be far better than GLSDB.

So GLSDB has a bigger range than Himars like systems?

No, GLSDB has like 150 km range (afaik) and Himars can have up to 300 km (afaik). Himars is basically just the launching platform for artillery rockets/missile and the range varies with the type of rocket/missile you launch from it.

You're not being a smart ass mate, mainly because "equivalent" doesn't just mean exactly the same, it also means used in the same way, or has the same use or effect. You want me to link a few dictionaries? So, in this case, or any other cases that compare two military systems that does the same thing, the word "equivalent" is correct.

I mean 300 Km range is with atacms which is a tactical balistic missile not the artillery rockets

it also means used in the same way, or has the same use or effect.

EDIT
Between you missed my point of my previous post.
Look at my next post please.

Do we know that? Will it be used in the same way only because it has the same concept? Will it have the same effect?
Is KAAN and F-35 equivalent? Is F-16 and JF-17 equivalent?

@Angry Turk !!! and @No Name please ignore this post. Love and thanks.

@boredaf

This is my point. Look at these posts and then look what i have written.

Is this a "Himars" like system?

What is the difference between Himars and GLSDB?

So GLSDB has a bigger range than Himars like systems?

But if you guys write it is "equivalent", then don't you think that someone, who is not familiar with the subject, will look up GLSDB and think like "Göktan will have same range, dimensions and capabilities"?

It would be better if they integrate it with Kaplan MLRS instead of being stand-alone system.

That'd make too much sense, we can't have that, we must have intercompany rivalries instead.

Isn't that the same truck also used for Gürz and Gökdemir?

Göktan provocates my creativeness. Again I've come up with another crazy idea.

Shore-based ASROC !!!

This is air launched torpedo project from USA, please notice the similarity to TOLUN

From Turkish shores , ground launched Delta V rocket delivers light weight torpedo or very light weight torpedo!!

Do we need 500km range ASROC?😎😁 imagine as if ground launcher and control unit based in Ankara , engaging submarines in the Mediterranean sea!!!

Just need to gather intelligence from USVs!!!

Equal= Eşit
Equivalent=Eşdeğer.

Gliding bombs are difficult to deal with, they are a pain in the ass. Göktan can be deployed as standolane asset to provide firepower and precion strike capability as well as deployed with existing rocket artillery batteries to complement their capability. It has very low IR signature and low RCS, it is also effective against hardened structures as it can penetrate reinforced concrete to a certain thickness. Those are the main differences compared to HIMARS. It will probably be used with the ADOP system and tactical UAVs like TB2.

Let's say same concept, but not equivalent. Afaik Göktan is larger, has different rocket technology and thus should have greater range.
No, it doesn't have a greater range. Both GLSDB and Göktan have around 150km range. Actually, Göktan might fall a little short. In the test, Göktan travelled 17km horizontally and the payload(Tolun S) successfully detached at a height of around 40000 feet. It should glide around 110 km from there, which puts the total distance travelled to 127km. It was a test shot, so it will probably reach 150km under certain angles and conditions.

Do you have a source for that?
Aselsan PDF for normal Tolun and Tolun IIR

PDF for Tolun-S

Its range is shorter than I first anticipated. It glides 102km if released from an aircraft at 40000 feet, add 17km horizontal travel of Göktan rocket before payload separation and we end with 119km total distance travelled, which is probably rounded up to 115km, not to make an error to be on the safe side while advertising to customers.
