Iran's Ghalibaf:

If there had been no negotiations, we would not have achieved our objectives.

We gained through negotiations many times more than what we sought to achieve through military action—so much more that the two are not even comparable.
As Jewish newspaper said. Iran wins not on battlefield but wins on negotiation table. Opposite of Turks.

Because they had a trump card that could strangle the whole world: the Strait of Hormuz.

On the other hand, Russia sent a peacekeeping force to Karabakh, thinking they could one day reclaim it. Now, do you see a peacekeeping force in Karabakh? Or does the agreement signed after Operation Spring Shield still hold any validity? Winning at the negotiating table isn't enough. If you don't have a strong army you can rely on, and you haven't supported that army with intelligent decisions, they'll make you eat that piece of paper you signed.

Tell me why would sane person in Uruguay wish to topple Iranian regime?

Toppling regimes is not the work of the other countries, it's the right of the citizens of that country, others do not have any right, or humane decency even to talk about it, in the pretext of toppling the regime, sighting lame reasons of authoritarian rule, dictatorship, human rights violations, denying of equal rights, that country wants to rule that country, rob it's resources and enslave it's citizens, using it's military might. The western trend is to have some opportunistic, unpatriotic, selfish, citizens of that country rule as puppets, while they loot all its resources, wealth, that's shameful, and disgusting, a curse to the world.

Read the 14-point draft agreement between the US and Iran

The agreement between Iran and the US lays out the terms of the ceasefire between the bitter rivals, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, some financial relief for Iran and a reiteration from Tehran that it will never produce a nuclear weapon, according to a draft copy of the text obtained by CNN.

The 14-point memorandum of understanding has not yet been officially released but a copy of it was obtained by CNN from a US official. A diplomat who saw it at the G7 summit in France this week confirmed its contents, as did two other diplomatic sources with knowledge of negotiations.

Given both the US and Iranians’ secrecy around the language, it remains unclear whether the draft text shared with CNN will reflect the exact wording of the final document due to be signed in person on Friday in Switzerland. Technical details are also being finalized so the wording could still shift. A White House spokesperson said the text did not reflect the actual memorandum.

Under the draft agreement, the US will allow Iran to sell its oil and petrochemical products, and Tehran may be able to tap into a $300 billion development fund if it meets commitments related to its nuclear program in further negotiations. The document does not include specifics on what will become of Iran’s highly enriched uranium.

The US official told CNN that the text reflects the agreement signed digitally by President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance and Iranian parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on Sunday.

Speaking to CNN, US officials have downplayed the significance of the memo itself, calling it a “political document” that does not reflect critical back-channel commitments Iran has made to the US, specifically on the future of Tehran’s nuclear program. The White House did not respond to a request for comment when presented with the draft obtained by CNN. The semi-official Iranian news agency Tasnim described leaked versions of the draft as inaccurate. Bloomberg earlier published a version of the draft.

The MoU is due to be formally signed Friday, triggering a 60 day-window to negotiate the final terms of a deal.

Below is the text in full:

1 — The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States, together with their allies in the current war, declare upon the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding an immediate and permanent end to the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, and undertake that from now on they will not launch any hostile action against each other, and will refrain from the threat or use of force against each other. The final agreement will confirm the provisions of this Article and the remaining Articles.

2 — The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States undertake to respect each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to refrain from interfering in each other’s internal affairs.

3 — The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States undertake to negotiate and reach a final agreement within a maximum period of 60 days, extendable by mutual consent.

4 — Immediately upon the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding, the United States lift the naval blockade and prevent any interference or obstruction against the Islamic Republic of Iran, and restore traffic within a maximum of 30 days to its full capacity; the traffic of ships shall be proportional to the pre-war volume of traffic on the part of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The United States also undertakes to withdraw its forces from the surrounding areas within 30 days after the final agreement.

5 — Upon signing this Memorandum of Understanding, the Islamic Republic of Iran will immediately take steps to ensure that the movement of merchant ships from the Persian Gulf to the Sea of Oman and vice versa is resumed within 30 days to the pre-war volume, taking into account the need for the removal of technical obstacles and the neutralization of mines by Iran.

6 — The United States undertakes, together with its regional partners, to create a comprehensive plan agreed upon by both parties for the rehabilitation and economic development of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while ensuring financing of at least $300 billion. The implementation mechanism of this plan, as part of the final agreement, will be formulated within 60 days.

7 — The United States commits to ending, on a schedule to be agreed upon as part of the final agreement, all types of sanctions currently facing the Islamic Republic of Iran, including resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and all unilateral U.S. sanctions, both primary and secondary.

8 — The Islamic Republic of Iran reiterates that it will never produce nuclear weapons. The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States have agreed that the fate of enriched material and the fate of all other mutually agreed nuclear-related issues, including Iran’s nuclear needs, will be adequately addressed in a final agreement; the final agreement will confirm the provisions of this Article.

9 — The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States agree that, pending a final agreement, they will maintain the status quo: Iran will maintain the status quo on its nuclear program, and the United States will not impose new sanctions on Iran or strengthen its forces in the region.

10 — The United States undertakes that immediately after the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding, and until the date of the lifting of sanctions, the United States Treasury Department will issue waivers for exports of Iranian crude oil, petrochemical products and their derivatives, and all related services, including banking, insurance, transportation, and the like.

11 — The United States undertakes that, in light of the progress of negotiations towards a final agreement, frozen or restricted funds and assets of the Islamic Republic of Iran will be released and made fully available. These funds, whether held in the master account or transferred, will be used for any final beneficiary payment determined by the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran and will be fully available for use. The United States undertakes to issue all necessary permits and licenses on this basis.

12 — The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States agree that an implementation mechanism will be established to oversee the successful implementation of and future commitment to the Final Agreement.

13 — Following the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding, and upon receipt of assurances regarding the commencement of implementation of Articles 4, 5, 10, and 11 of this Memorandum of Understanding, and the continued implementation of these steps, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States will enter into negotiations for a Final Agreement solely with respect to the remaining Articles.

14 — The final agreement will be approved through a binding resolution of the UN Security Council.

This story has been updated with additional information.

Obviously, a surrender agreement, or rather, an instrument of surrender.
I had considered the possibility of US's defeat, but reality has already surpassed imagination.

No Israel in this agreement?

Regarding Israel not as an ally of the United States but as its master is indeed a way to exempt the agreement.

We dropped about 15,000 bombs on Iranian military targets without losing a single soldier or plane. Thats good enough.

We also saved Syrian people from real genocide carried by Iran. First when we pushed Trump to end the Obama deal and second when we destroyed Hezbollah.
So your objective and success criteria from the start was to simply drop 15000 bombs without losing a single soldier?

You saved nothing in Syria. You occupied land. That's it.

White House released full text of the MoU

The points summarised are as follows:

1. The U.S. and Iran, and their allies in the current war, by signing this MoU, declare the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon, and undertake from now on not to initiate any war or any military operation against each other, and to refrain from the threat or use of force against each other, and ensuring the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Lebanon.

2. The U.S. and Iran will respect each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity and refrain from interfering in each other's internal affairs.

3. The U.S. and Iran commit to achieving a final deal in a maximum of 60 days, extendable with mutual consent.

4. The U.S. will immediately begin the removal of its naval blockade and any disturbances or impediments against Iran, and will fully end the naval blockade within 30 days. During this period, the traffic will be in proportion to the number of pre-war traffic being restored by Iran. The U.S. further undertakes to remove its military forces from the proximity of Iran within 30 days after the final deal.

5. Iran will make arrangements for the safe passage of commercial vessels with no charge for 60 days from the Persian Gulf to the Sea of Oman, and vice versa. The traffic of commercial vessels will immediately start, considering the need for removing the technical and military obstacles and demining, within 30 days. Iran will conduct a dialogue with Oman to define the future administration and maritime services in the Strait of Hormuz in discussion with other Persian Gulf littoral states in line with international law and the sovereign rights of coastal states of the Strait of Hormuz. (My comment: So they're free to charge a toll for any future traffic as long as they call it something else, like a 'service fee')

6. The U.S. undertakes with its regional partners to develop a definitive, mutually agreed plan with at least USD 300 billion for the reconstruction and economic development of Iran, as part of the final deal after 60 days. All required licenses, waivers, and permissions will be granted. (My comment: Essentially, the US agrees to pay war reparations.)

7. The U.S. will terminate all types of sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran, including the UNSC resolutions, IAEA Board of Governors resolutions, and all unilateral US sanctions, primary and secondary, in an agreed-upon schedule as part of the final deal.

8. Iran reaffirms that it shall not procure or develop nuclear weapons. The U.S. and Iran have agreed to resolve the disposition of stockpile enriched materials, pursuant to a mechanism that will be mutually agreed upon in accordance with the schedule mentioned in paragraph seven, with at a minimum a downblending on site under the supervision of the IAEA. The two parties also agreed to discuss the issue of enrichment and other mutually agreed matters related to Iran's nuclear needs. (My comment: Iran has never publicly said that they seek nuclear weapons, so no change there. The 60% enriched U will be downblended into more civilian-grade 5-7% enriched state, but the wording of the last line seems to indicate Iran will be allowed to keep their enrichment infrastructure as long as they promise not to enrich beyond the 5-7% mark).

9. Pending the final deal, the U.S. and Iran agree to maintain the status quo. Iran will maintain the current status quo of its nuclear program, and the U.S. will not impose any new sanctions and will not deploy additional forces in the region.

10. The U.S. undertakes that immediately upon the signing of this MoU, waivers will be issued for the export of Iranian crude oil, petroleum products, and derivatives, and all associated services, including banking transactions, insurances, transportation, etc.

11. The U.S. undertakes to make fully available for use the frozen or restricted funds of the Islamic Republic of Iran upon the implementation of this MoU. The U.S. and Iran will mutually agree on the procedures related to the release of these funds during the negotiations.

12. A monitoring mechanism will be established to supervise the implementation of this MoU and the subsequent deal.

13. After signing this MoU and subject to the beginning of the implementation of paragraphs 1, 4, 5, 10, and 11, and the continuing implementation of these measures, the U.S. and Iran will start negotiations regarding the final deal.

14. The final deal will be endorsed by a UNSC Resolution.

Wow, total & complete surrender of American interest in the region, in return for what is essentially status quo ante bellum, how it was before the war.

One of the most pathetic defeats suffered by the US yet. Way worse than the Vietnam withdrawal.

And Trump had to sign this surrender document in Versailles of all places! :ROFLMAO:

Any sane person on earth wants to topple down the Iranian regime.
The people of Iran were protesting en masse, they could've toppled the regime. But then... This war literally saved the mullahs, made them look like heroes if anything.

Let's be honest, neither Israel, nor Turkiye wants a secular, democratic, strong Iran. Mohammad Mosaddegh was the only leader who could've advanced Iran in a sustainable manner, and he was quickly removed by a US coup which put the "Shah" back in power. Despite the Shahs being despots, they actually made Iran quite strong, but they couldn't hold it together. One of the biggest criticisms of their rule was that they did everything they could to please the west. The mullahs on the other hand have stunted Iran enormously, but can be commended for their strive for more independence. But ultimately, they've done much more harm than good to their own nation.

These things are really weird, I don't think that there is any precedent in history. Take into account new EU game via a Vis Mavi Vatan etc , I think Turkiye should be very careful and worried
After all the extinction of Turkiye as viable stat brings all parties to someone that they agree upon, including Russia

I mean yes and no.
I think turkey could be interested in a democratic iran as long as its in their interest and not a lap dog of jerusalem which would be the case with that donkey pahlavi. Also under the shah iran was strong because it was allowed to be (no sanctions etc) it could have been stronger if more of the oil money was kept and not send west. The biggest issue for the mullahs was that they had no allies who could help them economically or militarily.

No, this operation started well after protests were fully suppressed.

Anyway they had not any chance from the beginning: unarmed students vs. million armed to teeth IRGC and Basij.

Israel wants. Shah Iran before 1979 was great for Israel.

Funny thing is that a ruler of some country needs to have interest of his people primarily in his mind and what I saw from Shahs interviews, he didn't like you very much.
By the way, it is obvious at least what we can see, that this fight was for Irans sovereignity. Students or others? What they fought for ? Not wearing a hejab? Is that all?
Or " opposition" asking you and Americans to totally destroy everything in Iran????

Ayatulah regime failed in everything and created a sadistic police state. Before 1979 Iran GDP per capita was x2 of Turkeys's now its 1/3. Basically thanks to Ayatulas Iranians became 6 times more poor.

All money went to create dozens of Shiite militias around the Middle East, kill hundreds of thousands Syrians for sake of failed dictator Assad.

This might just be my limited understanding of geopolitics, but:

What's stopping us from getting a Pipeline from Iran to Turkey for oil and gas?
