Why did forming an alliance with Saudi Arabia bother you so much? Whoever controls the Middle East controls the world. 70% of the world’s oil and gas reserves are in the Middle East. The most important factor keeping the dollar afloat today is, without a doubt, the petrodollar. If we can fill the void left by the USA in the Middle East (perhaps 30 years from now), we could become a major power center.
Problem is we are not equipped to deal with Iranian threat believe me I don't like Iran, If Saudis can't even defend their rafineries, air bases shit even military bases in their own soil how are we going to protect our own assets and soldiers?

My problem with this aggrement is that, Turkish troops shouldn't die trying to protect Saudi Interests I bet you know Saudis weren't too friendly to us for many many years. Our economy is already damned and If the republic goes into a unwanted war with Iran It will get worse, there isn't much us Turks get from this aggrement maybe pakistani help thats all.

I don't think we'll get directly involved in the war. We could set up a few bases there for deterrence purposes. We could supply Saudi Arabia with UAVs and large quantities of ammunition.

Knowing the reputation of Saudis losing drones and even high tech jets, I wouldn't advise giving anything to them
It puts us in a situation that won't be profitable supplying them drone, munitions and other assets just so they can lose them.

It is not profitable to just give give and get nothing from them back while they lose those assets.

I believe we can eventually bring Saudi Arabia to heel.
I don't know man. They seem to want us only when they want something. Thats my most issue with this Mecca Pact.
Would they have invited us in this alliance had Iranians not bombing them and humiliating them ?
The MENA region is a mess, and we could be harmed than gain anything from it.

We’ll sell it to them for money—we might even make them partners. They have a lot of money. We’ll also teach them how to use it. Knowledge is power. On the other hand, we can ease tensions without adopting a hostile stance toward Iran.

They had no choice but to turn to us. This is an honor for us, but a humiliation for them.

Iran already lobbed missiles onto Turkish soil, If they smell anything fishy like us helping Saudis there will be more than 4 missiles, also Im not keen on selling them stuff like Kaan etc. knowing that they will probably gonna crash it, sure we can sell them cheap TB2s (not TUSAS drones), but even with that I don't see Saudis being effective with that type of assets.

Turkiye's geography is cursed.

You have the Balkans, Caucasus, and the Middle East.

Across you have the Black sea which is Ukraine vs Russia and in the Med Sea across you have North Africa.

If we go further we find ourselves in Central Asia which is next to China then you have Afghanistan along with Pakistan vs India.

Turkiye can no longer afford a peace at home and peace in the world doctrine. Doesnt mean Turkiye gets itself into wars or do policies based on emotions but it also cannot afford to stay inactive and be friendly with everybody. That works for Portugal or Norway but not for Turkiye.

Australia has the benefit of geography because its surrounded by Oceans same for New Zealand. Which means the chance of getting invaded or attack is low.

In the Middle East right now the biggest threat to Turkiye is Israel, UAE and Iran.

If this Makkah pact has to work everybody has to offer something to the table. The Saudis can no longer rely on dangling money they need to get their act together and offer what they can do.

It won't be a honor when Houthis will and eventually missile strike our bases in Saudi arabia.
I was just about to mention this.
The whole point of this Mecca Pact is so Americans won't lose their soldiers over the brownoid Arabs. Like tell me, won't we be also humiliated when our bases get attacked too? wouldn't we have to also bomb back.. or we'd be humiliated. Not sure it's worth it. our bases worldwide would be seen as easy target too then. We really want to risk that?

But that's their own fault isn't it?
We Turks are open to cooperate with all. But they all see us as enemy. The Arabs, Balkans and beyond. Their pride would never accept to work with Turks for betterment of their people.
So, I have no sympathy.

All former Turkic territory. Funny isn't it when Turks are not in power it becomes hell on earth. Same with Ottomans giving special treatments to minorities.. that worked out so well for the Ottomans too lol.

We're not in a position to do anything.
We had to face WW1 betrayal for us change our ways.
We had to suffer Cyprus and Balkan disaster to our people.
we had no one to come to our aid which makes us want to prosper and not let our children suffer the same fate as our elders.
We're doing better now, but nowhere near enough to take care of all these regions. But we're getting there.

Got no choice but to be inactive for all these years. We produced nothing and relied heavily on west for arms. with strings attached of course. What could we done to change the fate for our neighbours? A lot of them openly hate us too.

I get the argument for Syria, as they're border neighbour .. but Saudi Arabia? Why should we care about their inter-Arab conflicts ..

We said the same for Egypt too when they were flirting with Greece. Now they're friends. Saudi was also hostile too over their Kashoggi incident.
I really do struggle to see any benefits of this pact. we shall see.

Egyptians missile striked our base in libya and killed our troops, we did not attack back, now somehow they are allies too, I dont want to get humilitaed by bunch of sandal wearing dudes supplied by Iran because the goverment is too afraid to strike back, this has happened before and will happen again, why are we sacrificing troops just to please US and Saudis?

I can say you're right, but we can't achieve anything without taking action.

I think the "article 5" of the Mecca defense agreement will only be activated if there is a proper invasion with boots on the ground to take over the capital. Before that nothing big will be done.

The same goes for the NATO article 5, no one will go to war for a couple Ballistic Missiles/drones.

We should achieve it by being aware of the situation and playing it safe, I want saudis to at least be able to protect or bolster their air defense capabilities against the missile strikes, that is when we can protect our troops. Im also against deploying F16s, Saudis lost F15s in their own air bases because of their lack of discipline etc.
