Trump got 47% of votes. My view is Trump is not the issue. He is merely the face of a issue. Fact is he haas vast regions of America who voted for him and stand by him. Since you live in USA what is your thoughts on this? I mean they can muzzle Trump but what about the sentiments that drove millions to vote for Trump? How are they going to bridge the divide? Your thoughts on this? What will happen in 2024 election? Could Trumpism bounce back? Or will corporate America now do a CCP style purge of Trumpism?

Trump is a mere symbol I agree but he is total coward he had 4 years to reign in the excess of Big Tech and neo-liberal style economics that had been implemented since the Reagan era the rust belt loves him because for the first time in long time they have guy that is quite vulgar to their taste mind you these places are low class white ethnics who came from variety places Ireland,Italy,Poland, Germany and mosshed up and became mutts there nevertheless he increased votes in non whites in 2020 Hispanics voted more for Trump than in 2016 there was an uptick in Black votes for the GOP as well small tho but he lost white surburban votes as he bungled the Covid-19 response for 2024 I am not so sure the Republican party never really liked Trump they saw him as tool to stall Democrats for a few years after they used him they ditched him I think before the events that transpired in DC last week both Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley who Senators from Texas and Missouri were kissing Trump's ring so they could run in 2024 now with these events they need lay low until this passes over but coward Trump gave the Dems and Establishment Republicans more chances to restrict rights and civil liberties now in a way "heal" the nation not sure this will work banning folks and extreme folks will lead to them laying low and more radiclazied I fear we might see a "Years of lead" situation that Italy had in the 60s.70s and early 80s or something like the IRA too

It was always like that at past usa were client for military industrial complex, now they are for info tech giants, nothing changed particularry exept it became too obvious. Usa is not even state in classical sense of the word, it is like huge money laundry washing machine.

It is also the greatest wealth creating engine in human history. To keep on topic, the value lies in its systems and never individuals, as we are observing yet again.

Tell me. I am curious which part of the 'systems' is superior to any other European country? And USA is just a European country planted 'abroad'. UK, Sweden, France, Norway etc?

I honestly think countries like UK or even Ireland are far superior to USA at every level. Call me biased. Bragging about nukes and USS Ronald Reagan means nothing. What matters is the life afforded to the average Joe and how each society takes care of the poor and weak.

Culture, tradition, well preserved social values are far superior to any material wealth from aspect of humanism. Tens of milions people in usa are homeless beside that enormous wealth, it tells something.

Yes, I agree. Wealth and prosperity is supposed to create a ideal society. But while there is no doubt that USA as @VCheng called is "engine of wealth" [although let's not forget the massive natural resources it is blessed with much like Saudia Arabia] but has that led to ideal society? Crime in USA, poverty on the fringes, inequality, brutal force used by the state agencies like police often at those on the margins points to something terrible wrong with American society. US prison system is a looking glass at US society. And it ain't pretty!

On the page of the US Department of State, the phrase "Term ended on January 11, 2021 at 19:34:04" was used for US President Trump.
The statement "Term ended on January 11, 2021 at 19:44:22" was stated for Vice President Pence.

According to US State Department sources, there is an "angry employee" behind the information published on the ministry's page that the terms of Trump and Pence are over today.

To be sure, the Clintons and their hench people, specifically Wasserman-Schulz had a great role in the rise of Trump, aided by the lack of a viable alternative by the GOP. To say that the people preferred a disaster like Trump over Hillary is really saying something. We still have to get through the last few days of Trump's term and then see the way Biden is able to lead his administration, towards betterment or not. I am sure we will talk about it as we go along.

This is again getting into things too specifically. Specifics do matter its true, fuel to the flames and all that.

But the flames were already there, they were not embers as they once were.

And we can debate just about any topic without degradation. Imagine that!

Yes. World would be far saner place if far more people could apply this.

I went out last night to interview people for my third video on my Podcast and You Tube the spilt was there NYC may be a liberal and Democratic city but Manhattan has tourists from all over and commuters this is not step in a step in the right direction even Liberals* not establishment liberals who dislike Trump dont like this move by Big Tech at all its precedent that if your opinions are not in line with the corporate mainstream media you will be silenced believe me after they gonna target the Far Right they will target more anti-Establishment groups as well the US has lost any moral authority to chastise China or like countries for a Great Firewall when its own corporations call the shots when melded with US government interests

This is spot on.

With lefties you can gauge their true finger to the wind honesty by if they caught on quickt w,r,t media garbage about "Russia" etc and how that was already being used to silence folks on the left at the time.

It really is litmus test to see if someone is neo-lib.

Dore, Kulinski, Greenwald all come to mind as folks I appreciate for their brutal honesty on this, and their ability to see what big tech really is doing here.

Gonna watch your vid later.

By inserting religious majoritarianism as the cassus-belli right from the get go, is tantamount to hewing on one leg of the country (thats expected to run a marathon) imo. The result on map did not take long for it to come.
Nilgiri, your conflating two issues, intentionally to obfuscate the matter. To begin with no country needs a cassus belli to exist. There maybe a issue at given point in time but as time moves forward it may be discarded.

What are the two issues? Your favourite of course is the Bangla 71. That is a horse you have flayed to death, nay burnt it and chucked it down the Ganga River. Implicit in your line of reasoning is cassus belli. Okay can you please -

  • provide us the cassus belli for British colony that was dissolved in 1947 known as the 'Raj'?
  • if you ascribe the Bangla 71 to the flawed idea of 'religious majoritarianism' what was the recipe that kept the British Raj alive in South Asia for over 250 years? Longer then Pakistan or Indian Republics thus far?
What you conveniently ignore is the entity that existed before birth of India and Pakistan was nothing but a empire built by British bayonets. You somehow regard that entity holy. To me British Raj was not that indifferant to the German Reich. Indeed I opened a thread on this -

So much I agree in this analysis...but you did the trademark yankeestani onelongsentencethatneverends thing again heh.

Trump was businessman with some reactionary guts and instincts that could have really done stuff.... but he needed to take on board populism across the board from the American people. That required him to do what was needed in the campaign (and win like he did), but then not be full of himself after it.

Instead he felt he was both beholden to GOP and that he was changing them in his narcissitic way of thinking. End result is what you got now.

It was reckless and amateur move, but he basically couldn't do the 4D or 5D (his sycophants and supporters kept yabbering about), heck even 2D chess was difficult for him.

Guy was just a car-salesman megaphone and had no real underlying goal except to try to get everyone (not just the "base") to like him more.

That passive-aggressive love-hate thing that both him and the media had going on with each other, ugh....how they just fed off each other.

US was just a cheap reality show for last 4 years...and I guess enough people (if the votes are indeed as they are for sake of argument) had enough of that, and I guess prefer the status quo slow-boil instead.

In the end all its done is helped and embolden neolib+neocon establishment big tech uniparty cabal.

I doubt they are gonna stay in the DC swamp too (and leave the institutions alone), they have tasted something here with using trump and bernie types. Power is like unbridled lust....so many people dont get thats where virtue signalling all comes from too.

California these days is the biggest poster case for it worldwide.

But you are right about the minority votes increasing under Trump. If the GOP were sane and organised they would see something there to take forward. But they are snobs, always have been...always will be.

They (GOP estab.) deep down dislike Trump immensely for bringing who vote for them (good, bad and ugly) to the limelight, front and centre. They have that aversion to it (they hate lot of their voters), that democrats (except for manchin types and the most centrist ones) totally do not have...even though democrats hate their voters just as much if not more.

This is what makes the demorats far more powerful (in the short and mid term) when they weaponise it...it is why they invested as much as they did in the culture war in specific places for the last few decades.

But very few actually read up on this stuff, fewer still understand it, and very few do anything about it (or can do much about it). Thus most remain pawns and sheep.

50 thousand dollars cash money.

Twitter loses $5B, shares down 12% since Trump ban

Twitter's stock price was down as much as 12.3% on Monday after outgoing US President Donald Trump was permanently banned from the platform.

After closing at $51.48 per share on Friday, the US-based social networking service saw its stock price open down at $47.16 a share on Monday, then fell to as low as $45.15 per share shortly after opening bell at 9.30 a.m. on the US East Coast (1430GMT).

The decline erased $5 billion from Twitter’s market capitalization before the stock price later recovered to $49 per share around 12.20 p.m. (1720GMT) for a market value of approximately $39 billion.

The sudden decline came the first trading day after Twitter on Friday permanently banned Trump's account, which had around 89 million followers.

The ban could spark fury from Trump supporters on Twitter, risking a loss in the number of users for the company, and raising questions about regulation, according to some analysts.

Explaining the move, Twitter had said: "After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence."

The decision came after two months of Trump’s claims of voter fraud and election theft in the Nov. 3 US presidential election, and his supporters storming the Capitol building, forcing lawmakers to evacuate their session confirming President-elect Joe Biden's win, and causing multiple deaths.

Social networking giant Facebook also suspended Trump's account for at least the rest of his presidency, until Jan. 20, as CEO Mark Zuckerberg argued the outgoing president risked more violence and he intended to use his account to undermine a peaceful transition of power.
