What hypocrisy? Freedom of Speech means you can critique the government and nothing will be done against you by the government. Trump had no evidence, and he was banned by Twitter, a private company, who provided him their platform provided he stuck by the platform's Terms of Service. He broke said ToS. He got banned. That's a consequence.

Parler allowed hateful speech and content, and threats of violence on their platform. Google and Apple are private companies. They have ToS not allowing the apps on their stores to host contents like these. The broke ToS, they got removed from the stores. That's consequence.

In neither of the cases were they met with retributions from the US government. Which is the very definition of Freedom of Speech. It's called Freedom of Speech and not Freedom of Consequence for a reason. You can say what you want to critique the government, you can even do it in a hateful amd dishonest manner like Trump and the Parler users did and the government won't retaliate, but it doesn't mean that private citizens and companies (Twitter, Google, Apple) should be forced to allow you to use their platform to do so.

This is more than can be said compared to when Jan Böhmermann made fun of Erdogan using harsh language in a poem and Erdogan got so mad that he demanded criminal prosecution by german government against Böhmermann over it. THAT is a form of retaliation by the Turkish Government. THAT is against Freedom of Speech.

That is such a simple concept and yet people like you can't understand that. Jesus Christ...
Hey what is threating for you for me is expressimg my right for freedom of speech, as long as i do not commit those threats phisically, i am free to speak wahtever i want, tnose are just words arent they.
You see how is it absurd concept itself, deny something about holocast you will see how it works, assange, so there is no such thing as freedom of speach only margins established by goverments.

About cooperation with Turkey. You know as well as I do why that didn't happen. When the US was searching for allies on the ground in Syria (because they didn't want to send american soldiers to Syria), Turkey backed and offered The Free Syrian Army. The US refused the FSA because they considered the FSA to be poorly trained, poorly equipped, and riddled with extremists (some even defected to ISIS). So the only other option available was SDF, which was lead by YPG. They were the only option that were well trained and definitely guaranteed to hate ISIS to the bone. Which meant that Turkey then decided to stay in the sidelines because they didn't want to work with the YPG. Which is all fair. But don't say it was because of oil or what not. We all know Trump is a moron with a mouth faster than his shadow.

But which coup are you talking about? The July 15th 2016 coup? That was done by a faction within your own armed forces! But of course you blame the US because Gülen is hiding in the US and the US refused to extradite him. The US did offer extradition if the Turkish government could provide compelling evidence that Gülen orchestrated the Coup. But the Turkish government instead provided evidence of subversive actions that happened before the coup and not related to it. If you want the US to extradite Gülen, the way is simple. Show evidence that he orchestrated the coup. Do that and the US will extradite him immediately. Until then, don't claim the US orchestrated the coup. Not even the Turkish government have accused the US government of orchestrating the coup. They've only ever accused Gülen and thrown a tantrum when the US refused to extradite Gülen without evidence.
Not only Turkey didn't wanted to work with YPG but inside YPG there were people on high positions that were wanted for terrorism crimes. The truth here is that YPG are capable fighters only with US CAS and non-conventional warfare specialists to coordinate them on the ground.

I believe it is not coincidence that one after urban insurgency started in Turkey on the border with Syria with the active participation of US supported terrorist group, a failed coup attempt led by US based and US supported intelligence network followed and one month later an independence referendum was initiated by Barzani who later accused the US for not giving the support they promised earlier with a call for a later date in the future because apparently the coup was not successful and Turkey stand on its feet.

US will never extradite Gulen for obvious reasons and I am saying it as a man who is not a big fan of President Erdogan. They will also not cease their support for the Syrian wing of PKK again for obvious reasons. US have other strategic interests in the region that don't include sharing with Turkey and this is not from yesterday. The US is in urgent alternative search for the supposed puppet role of Turkey in the MENA region but they can't find one so they decide they will create one from nothing. We have to face it as it is. Turkey wants to be a partner and not a puppet and that is upsetting some people in the higher echelons of the US government.

Im all for free speech but if you have members supporting pkk or any other terrorist group they should be banned on the spot in this forum.

There pretty much is genocide in every peoples History. We stole the land from the Indian's, the Euro-Empires were ruthless. Especially France. Look at Russia, Mao killed countless millions, Africa, South America,Germany wrote the book, anywhere you look. Turkey is just one of many.

You can't be genocidal unless you committed genocide. Did anyone here commit genocide? I never killed any Indigenous so I take no blame. The fact is people are responsible for the things they do, not for what others have done. Thinking otherwise is the big message the left is trying to put on American's "and everybody else for that matter".

I spent 18 mos in Turkey back in the '70s under NATO. It had always been one of historys greatest alliances, America and Turkey has. It hasn't always been smooth, but friends always bicker and family's always fight. I look at pictures of Adana now and compare it to the '70s and am amazed at the marvel the economy of Turkey has become. Most of you aren't old enough to remember your country back then but modern city's like Adana were quite literally cow towns. And the Turks want to put it at risk over a radar? Or a single man? I dont understand it. American's dont understand it.

I got news for you, the Russian's do not want friends and allies. Neither do the Chinese, thats how they roll. Thats how they have always rolled. The Russian's still dream of Empire and always will and Turkey will always be very close to their borders and they will always dream of hegemony in the Black Sea and warm water ports. Turkey has always kept its national identity while in NATO and its independence. Its always been a valued partner. I think this S-400 thing is a mistake. The Turkish Air Force has always been offensive minded and the loss of the F-35 will have a lot of impact on its regional reach.

We can agree or disagree. Its good to see the American perspective on this one. Still the Americans and the Turks interests clash even if the S400 was not bought what guarantee that the F35s will still come.

Did you serve in the Incirlik Air Base?

I hope the problems get solved im not really Anti F35. I do believe its the plane of the future just not a fanboy who cries over it.

Will see what the future beholds.

Of course they would have "come". Turkey was a partner in them and produced parts for them. Maybe not as fast as they would like but nobody is getting them as fast as they would like, and now everybody wants them. Its no secret the IAF has been dancing around Russian radars in Syria with their 35i's.

I think Erodgan put himself in a hole with this one and he really didn't expect the outcome. Now he has to stomach the Greeks having offensive stealth Jabo's that he himself doesn't and he can't back down without Losing face. Any radar can be taken out, they are first night targets. I get what he's doing, he wants to play both sides against each other to Turkey's benefit but this was a bad trade.

Yes I served at Incirlik.

I noticed that first time an American is posting in this thread and we have like over 100 Turkish members here. More over we have many hot topic with US like, US government giving shelter to FETÖ leader and supporting PKK against our country but i want to remind everybody @usaf77 is not a representative of the US government so, what we expect from everyone is to keep their discussions in a civilized manner.

The Americans have been and are still trying to remove anything KCK from SDF, they send numerous times so. I think it's not going to work out but at least officially they have said that. But I doubt that the defence department and Pentagon give a shit about what the Justice Department says. Its still their biggest asset in Syria and they cant do without them.
