Last ship to be finished in 2027 then testing so hand over in 2029. Another 12 years for 4 ships. Incredible, with this speed TF-2000 project will be done in 2050.

You would think they would learn from the Ada fiasco but apparently nobody bothered. How is it that a country of this size, bordered by water on every single side can’t manage to build 2-3 ships in short intervals after another? This project should have be concluded in 2025 the latest. What are our shipyards doing?

How is no one sitting in higher positions bothered by this?

What happened to Demir‘s statement about having private shipyards build the remaining ships parallel to each other? Was that a nice lie?
Because you are nowhere near a $2 trillion economy that could afford such a building speed. Besides there are still a lot of indigenous projects under development that are supposed to be integrated on the I-class frigates, like VLS, G40, Torpedos and perhaps even a smaller CAFRAD variant. This all takes time.

Just like on the ADA, the first ones are different from the last one. From the propulsion system being bought in its entirety from Germany to buying the individual propulsion components and integrating themselves, to the changes in CMS, changes in bow shape and the capability to fire indigenous AShM's.

The I-class will follow the same development path with even more indigenous systems and eventually even indigenous engines under the new Turkish-Ukrainian partnership (Lodos).

Turkey is in a unique situation where it at the same time both builds and develops its own weaponry with every legitimate means possible. The only country that followed the same trajectory to such a high degree but illegitimately, in recent history, is China.

The Turkish engineers deserve much praise for their hard work and the managers for leading them to higher and higher goals. There is no need to be pessimistic or cynical about the rise of the Turkish defense industry at all.

@Khagan1923 You see. Turkish defense industry is even faster than you think in its development. The first ship of this class is going to feature indigenous radars and VLS.

And an aircraft carrier project is going to start soon.

This is new to me. Domestic VLS would be installed on second ships of I class but It seems the plans was changed.

Same for 3D radar. He said Yerli and Milli radar. Aselsan must have developed a domestic AESA equivalent of Smart-S.

I honestly am fed up with this and how no one seems to care that a country like Turkey needs 12 years to build light frigates for its navy while other countries build the same amount of ships in half the time. Incredible. I don’t even want to hear so poor excuse for this fiasco.
I guess it is more important to build palaces than ships!

Please stop disregarding the point where we have started our journey. No one could dream of the point where we will be standing in just 5 years going forward. Fighter jets complete with national engines, Aircraft carriers, long range missiles tanks and everything else despite all the enmity we are facing from our so called allies and try to be worthy of all these blessings we will be bestowed with.

This is interesting. On almost every CGI of I-class, the radar is a Smart-SII which is domestically produced by Aselsan under license and the TRM modules production is outsourced by Thales to Aselsan. Perhaps Aselsan has made a deal with Thales to design their own AESA variant? Or is it a new radar altogether? Time will tell I guess.

Remaining 3 will be built in short time, expected to be in service by 2025.
There are certain reasons to postpone (actually a delay) to, definitely there are things going on in the background, in bureucratic triangle of Turkish Navy -SSB (Also president)-Budget

To my understanding he actually referred to licensed Smart-S. It is considered domestic (manufactured, installed, integrated by Aselsan) and also included in domestication of subsystems in the Ada Class.
For the Domestic VLS ,it doesn't sound rational to get it into service by 2023 along with missiles. Probably he has referred to remaining ships in the class to emphasize domestic contribution in this class will increase.

It was already known that Aselsan has been working to develop a naval radar but I didn't know It will be ready for TCG Istanbul. If Erdoğan didn't make a mistake while describing the radar, TCG Istanbul will have a new "yerli and milli" radar

About VLS, I don't suppose because He directly mentioned the name of TCG Istanbul and what He listed was the systems to be used on first ship.

I have told this nearly 4 years ago. :)
A different subcontractor has conducted bow form optimization of I Class.
3-4 th ship of Ada Class has slightly different bow form as well.
I doubt if it can be called wave piercing, but it is optimized to reduce spraying, thus increasing efficiency in higher speeds.
Also, a different bulb type was adapted, compared to Ada Class. Jinnah Class will have different bow form as well.
It's cute

Wouldn't a 2nd LHD be unnecessary luxury without any real airpower to operate from it(and no drones can't replace real jet fighters). We already have Anadolu + 2x Bayraktar-Class LST. Wouldn't it make more sense to expand with 2 more Bayraktar-Class LST instead of another 1 Billion $ LHD.
2nd LHD is actually the aircraft carrier. Might be planned for beyond 2030+ when critical projects are completed.

75% indigenous content. Hope it will be 100% by the last frigate.
The numbers are irrevelant after certain abilities are gained on propulsion, electronics and weapons. I wouldn't mind the numbers from this point on, especially accounting for parts which can be easily procured from any of the suppliers.
More than everything, most of the sensors, electronics are domestic.

Negotiations with whom? We have no company with any experience in designing a AC, could he mean foreign companies? Then again maybe with AC he means something like the LP-X of the South Koreans.

View attachment 12639

If he means a foreign company then a company that would come to mind for me is BAE System with whom we already work together on TF-X. BAE Systems designed and built the QE AC for the Royal Navy, maybe technical assistance again just like with the TF-X?

I think He meant "negotiations with Turkish Navy" bro. Navy will list the requirements in accordance to their power projection, and they will decide which aerial platforms they are going to deploy. After this stage, The agreed points of the sides will be documented and deals will be signed between sides. The selected institute or/and Navy design office will start drawing the carrier.
