Media reports from Japan say that the Kawasaki C-2 transport plane will undergo testing on unpaved runway in order to boost its chance of winning a contract from the UAE.

The testing will be done from October this year. Data will be collected from across different aircraft configurations and runway surfaces, it will be shared with the UAE.

The potential order from the UAE is the best chance so far for Japan’s Defense Export Agency to win its first contract.

The report added that talks to sell the US2 amphibian to India are in deadlock.

Yeah, like our participation in Korean Attack Helicopter tender....it was kind of obvious that they would select the US option. UAE is not much very different. If you are banking on US for your national defense then you need to pay some protection money.
