The R&D Project, financed with equity for the development of VLA (Very Light Aircraft), is a project that has been initiated to train the students of the relevant engineering department who are continuing their education in the fields of aircraft design, production, assembly, ground and flight testing and contract and program management.
Within the scope of both projects (ITU and METU), it is aimed to develop and produce a 2-person Prototype Aircraft in the Very Light Aircraft (VLA) category.
The design activities of the aircraft are planned to be carried out by the students of Istanbul Technical University (ITU) and Middle East Technical University (METU), and the production, assembly, integration and testing activities by the TAI-Turkish Aerospace Industry with the participation of the students.
With this project, the targets are,
- Students start their design activities during their education and transform their designs into products and gain experience in the Defense and Aerospace sector during their education.
- Encouraging related engineering students to the aviation industry with aircraft design
- Training qualified engineers in the field of aircraft design in order to provide employment in the Defense Industry and Aviation sectors.
- Development of TUSAŞ's University / Industry Cooperation studies.
- It is to give TAI capability in the VLA category.
