Ikr, they still focused on air to air and air to ground rolesEven we don't have enough Smart Bomb, bunker Buster and such ...
Can't blame them oc with all budget limitation that we have

Yea, and dont forget "umberella". We often forget that fighting unit is less likely to operate alone, coastal def, ashm, trimaran, gun boat, even destroyer wont matter much without decent air support/payung udara. Even one small thing such as radar coverage we still need to work hard to improve it. Fregat AAW bring another level of under-radar coverage area and can act as both AAW/Recon and air protection. Individually each matra might not look that strong, but if we can combine all three with good tactics & strategy even those old howitzer can annoy those warships trying to sail the small chocke point. But again looks like in this age air domination is a must, so lets hope those fighters project we have been work on can be materialized and come out in 36+ numbersAgree that we need both systems (mobile land-based and sea-based)

So Indonesian army doesn't operate helicopters older than 30 years, or any other equipment beyond their lifetime?Too old...
Same here, I'd rather have the armed forces invested their money on more area denial weapons, instead of insisting on brand new expensive weaponry. So Indonesian army doesn't operate helicopters older than 30 years?
If maintained well and in a healthy condition, also upgraded by time then why not?
I already post this in indonesia defence industries threadSentry gun / UGCV test from Balitbang Kemhan and PT Ansa Solusitama Indonesia:
Interesting. I hope that this sentry gun / ugcv project won't end up like so many other prototypes that most R&D departments made in the past.
wonder if in the future our Leo 2's gonna have some sort of mothership role for these UGV.Sentry gun / UGCV test from Balitbang Kemhan and PT Ansa Solusitama Indonesia:

Not just UGVs, but canister launched UAVs (kamikaze or surveillance) are a thing of future. Development of these are crucial as much as a MALE UAV.wonder if in the future our Leo 2's gonna have some sort of mothership role for these UGV.
think about loyal wingman but on the ground.
Just hope that our future military leaders and officers have such forward thinking and imagination.
Well, sorry I missed it completely.I already post this in indonesia defence industries thread
in short the future is unmanned. Not just UGVs, but canister launched UAVs (kamikaze or surveillance) are a thing of future. Development of these are crucial as much as a MALE UAV.
No. Please dont get me wrong. Since The UGV is still prototype I think the discussion should be in indonesia defence Industries instead of indonesia army thread. But of course if you insist to do so then go a head, please.Well, sorry I missed it completely.
Would you like me to delete this one so that anyone interested in discussing it should quote yours instead?
The future of US Army might be adopt weapon system that cross-function with other services (USAF, US NAVY). Not anymore about aerial defence/umbrella, The long range precision firing system could also do the pre-emptive and preventive strikes aboard the country. That is why a USAF general had mocked this idea since it seems could take over some of USAF function during the war.Yea, and dont forget "umberella".
