Its too sensitive to bring attack helos to Papua.

Perhaps Fennec or Bell 412 with FFAR and machinegun is the best helos for aerial support.

Its because the insurgent haven't got MANPADS in their inventory (yet)

To be honest " Hnd " was perfectly designed to shine in thid specific anti insurgency situation . And yet , between miniscule readyness state and lack of performance in high mountain areas .... Let us just pimped out all of our bell to the teeth and beyond ..

It's too much hassle to pimp something that haven't been tested and certified as yet .

And yes ... Terrain familiriaty were always hampered our boys for good add that with an abysmall logistical flow and availability it
was a perfect recipe for disaster . And yet , compared to the spoiled US army guy in the afghan highland . our boys are tougher , meaner and always had a make do attitudes .

bell 412 can actually equipped with 40mm automatic grenade launcher , but i don't know if it's far better option than equipped with minigun or LMG .

minigun and rocket armed NBell 412 would do the trick just fine. Now if only we can sprinkle more armed drone to monitor and listen to them and send them back to God almighty (if situation permit) that would be even better

Fixed wing is better suited for COIN role. One can always hear an approaching helo further than approaching fix wing. Not to mention fixed wing generally have longer loitering time and faster to reach target

If you intend to kill some tree kangaroo then its quite effective. But when you intend to hit whatever it is underneath those tree canopy, then you need something heavier
