Lets goooo !

block 72 ? bruh eta kinle MRCA dorkar nai. Uses the radar and avionics similar to F-35.

I am going to be realistic and say that maybe block 52 could be offered to us. But the main hurdles are ACSA and GSMOIA which gov is hesitant to sign because of China.
My opinion is just sign GSMOIA and get gripens OR if everything else fails , get J-10CE. DEFSECA is known to make similar claims in the past so , you have to forgive me for treating his posts with some scepticism. imo the factor that might determine which single engine fighter is chosen is cost. and i'm going to bet on the J-10CE which is cheaper with financing provided and MRO facilities.

BAF needs to start the process of replacing the F-7 as its workhorse.

BAF didn't even release tender for single engine MRCA.So don't think that we will have fighters like F16V or Gripen NG anytime soon.Wait until 2024-2025 and see what happens.

And I don't think J10 has any chance.

I am looking at wiki BAF, and can see most of the gear is RU or CN.

Do you guys have any guess on whether BD is going to change to western oriented systems, or going to be both RU, CN and western systems, pick and choose what you need.

I am asking because I am not well versed in the regional conflict and the challenges BD faces. Although I have read and heard about BD being dependent on India etc. etc.

Retiring J7 would require a replacement, would that be light aircraft from CN, RU or western system ?

Whatever you heard about "BD being dependent on India" is nothing but stupid fairy tales created by radicals and BNP supporters who oppose the current pro liberal government. So it would be better if you ignore them.

There is off course quality issues with Sino-Russian equipments. But I think politics also play a mojor role in this as both China and Russia took Myanmars side in 2017 crisis. And there is a chance that BD might join quad in this decade.

Westernization is happening where possible but will still use a decent amount of Sino-Russian equipments.Russian helicopters will serve for a long time. And there is good possibility that Chinese air defence systems might be selected for BAF in future. And if things go on like this the F7 replacement will also be Western.

However F16V might be selected when BAF starts replacing obsolete F7s with a new single engine fighter after first phase of heavy MRCA is complete. This might happen in 2023/2024-2025.Currently BAF didn't even release tender for single engine fighters. So it would be stupid to think that fighters like F16V will be in BAFs inventory any time soon.

You do know the chief discussed about acquisition of MRCA with his American counterpart, right? It doesn't have to come under single engine MMRCA tender. The current twin engines MRCA project for 16 fighters isn't under the previous tender either cause that was only for 8+ optional 4 = 12 Russian jets only.

A G2G deal can happen simultaneously. Also it's too early to jump at any conclusion. F -16V is a top notch fighter jet and one of the best options for our single engine MMRCA program besides Gripen but the strings attached with it are the main problem.

J-10 saw no export success so it will definitely raise eyebrows but China is not known for weapon politics like America. Though recent incident of Chinese ambassador will definitely make the higher-ups think carefully before taking any action including China's stance on Rohingya issue. Also local MRO for fighter jet will play a role in procurement.

Question is which simulator our air chief used? Do they have simulator for block 52?

But the main hurdles are ACSA and GSMOIA which gov is hesitant to sign because of China.

Latest ISPR release said the chief talked about ACSA and GSMOIA while FM said we aren't interested in defense deal or weapon from USA. Is BD trying to play it down?

DEFSECA is known to make similar claims in the past so , you have to forgive me for treating his posts with some scepticism.

DTB and DefSeca both reported the news based on this @TheWolfpackIN twitter account's tweet. The same account said that we removed "except Israel" part to qualify for F-16 purchase. I could say it's a believable BS. 😄

Russia is out of MRCA procurement because CAATSA, Rohingya issue and other issues. Mi-17 helicopter is a different issue. Even the Chinese might loose the MRCA deal as we are seeing BD is looking at the West for MRCA and MR-SAM (Hisar-O, Sea Ceptor).

Although I have read and heard about BD being dependent on India etc. etc.

Absolutely a bogus thing to say. I think i know which party gave you that idea.

Pakistan operates some Block52 sims but dont know about USAF . Well i thought BAF would go for the cost-effective option Block 52 or maybe even Block 60.
I want Block 72 but its got very sensitive tech and the US may not want to ''water down'' some of the conditions in ACSA and GSMOIA plus its very expensive.

if all else fails , sign the GSMOIA and Get the gripen NG. It shares the same weapons package as EFT. Plus we don't have to sign ACSA.

Egypt has operated F-16 and American weaponry for decades and has only recently signed ACSA

EDIT: Lockheed martin does not manufacture Block 52 anymore so we cant get it.

Nah. I was talking about Lockheed Martin's facility in USA where the chief flew the simulator.

EDIT: Lockheed martin does not manufacture Block 52 anymore so we cant get it.

Of course we have to get them from the boneyard like Indonesia did.

We don't live in a good neighbourhood. Myanmar is a belligerent ,rouge state that conducted the Rohingya genocide and caused a refugee crisis. It claims our island, St. Martin as their own. They are one-fifth of our GDP but still threaten us. RU-CN which we considered friendly ,voted against condemming Myanmar. CN was mediating the talks to repatriate the Rohingya , but the talks have stalled after the coup happened. So some distance between BD and CN has been created. Maybe we are tilting slightly towards the west.

the evidence doesn't really support the narrative of BD being dependent on India. We are part of BRI project and signed a Defence cooperation pact with CN back in 2003.

If western jets are procured , essentially we will have to set up new infrastructure for maintenance and training for new platforms.
We might have the opportunity to participate in excercises Such as Red flag and Anatolian eagle.

The govt does not have to issue any tenders. All fighters are likely to come on a G2G basis.

The govt doesn't but DGDP or BAF does that. BAF issued tender for "Russian Only" 12 fighters but this time they are planning to buy 16 fighters under G2G deal.
