The Khabarovsk nuclear submarine (project 09851), which is the second sub designed to carry the Poseidon underwater craft, will be floated in autumn, a defense industry source told TASS.​

The Khabarovsk is the second Poseidon carrier. The first one is the Belgorod submarine of project 09852. It was floated on April 23, 2019. Both submarines have to carry six Poseidon each.

According to Covert Shores, The Project 09851 Khabarovsk (пр.09851 “Калитка-СМП” “Хабаровск”) submarine is likely the main launching platform of the Poseidon “Intercontinental Nuclear-Powered Nuclear-Armed Autonomous Torpedo” (also known as 2м39 ‘Poseidon’ [Посейдон] / ‘Status-6’ [Статус-6] / ‘Skif’ [Скиф] seabed launched variant / NATO: KANYON).

This boat is similar to but smaller than the Project 955 ‘BOREI’ (пр.955 “Борей” – BOREI) SSBN. Working off a similar hull diameter to the BOREI, Covert Shores was able to estimate the submarine’s length as 120m versus 160m for the BOREI. This makes sense as the Khabarovsk does not require the missile section behind the sail. And it is even possible that it shares many components and even hull sections with the SSBN. The stated displacement of 10,000 tons makes it massive, but is much lighter than the 13,000 ton BOREI.

Russia’s improved Project 885M (Yasen-M) nuclear-powered submarines will feature the capability of salvo-launching Kalibr-PL and Oniks cruise missiles.
The nuclear-powered submarine Kazan made a salvo launch of two missiles from a vertical launcher and a torpedo tube during state trials, according to the Russian TASS agency.

In November 2020, “the Kazan made a salvo during state trials, which confirmed the possibility of such launches,” the TASS reported. A Kalibr-PL cruise missile was fired from a vertical launcher against a coastal target while an Oniks missile was launched from a torpedo tube against a surface target. Both targets were successfully struck, the source of TASS specified.

It was reported in early April that shipbuilders would deliver the improved Project 885M (Yasen-M) lead nuclear-powered submarine Kazan to the Russian Fleet by Navy Day that will be celebrated on July 25 this year.

According to information published by the Russian press agency TASS on April 20, 2021, the Alexander Anishchenko large hydrographic boat of Project 19920 for the Russian Navy completed acceptance trials in Vladivostok, the October Revolution Shipyard said.

“The acceptance act has been signed. The Alexander Anishchenko is the fifth boat of project 19920 built by the shipyard,” it said.

The shipyard has been building hydrographic boats for the Pacific fleet since 2006. It is now building the Vasily Bubnov boat of project 19910. The Pacific fleet has to form three crews for new warships, including the Alexander Anishchenko this year.

Citing Topwar.ru website technical information, the ship is equipped with a three-beam echo sounder, thanks to which it is possible to study the bottom topography, as well as a navigation system capable of automatically plotting a course for the vessel according to the specified parameters

The ship is designed to perform hydrographic and pilot works in coastal areas. The vessel will be able to deal with the delivery of scientific groups and special equipment up to 15 tons to the unequipped coast.

The Alexander Anishchenko large hydrographic boat has an overall length of 36.44 m, a beam of 7.8 m, and a depth of 3.6 m. She has a displacement of 320t and can carry a crew of up to 11 personnel. The boat is equipped with navigational radar, NAVSTAR / GLONASS global satellite navigational system, computer-based integrated navigational mapping system, magnetic compass, lag, NAVTEX receiver, and an echo sounder.

The Alexander Anishchenko is powered by two DEUTZ BF6M1015MC diesel engines and can reach a top speed of 11.5 knots with a maximum cruising range of 1,000 miles at a speed of 11 knots. She has an endurance of up to 10 days.

MOSCOW, April 22. /TASS/. Project 22350 guided missile frigates currently under construction at the Severnoye Shipyard will eventually become the mainstay of the Russian Navy’s surface force, CEO of the Severnoye Design Bureau (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) Andrei Dyachkov told TASS on Thursday on the occasion of the company’s 75th anniversary.

"Project 22350 frigates are set to become the backbone of the Russian Navy’s surface groupings soon. Work on six warships of this series is currently underway," the chief executive said.

The Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard (part of Russia’s United Shipbuilding Corporation) launched the Project 12700 mine countermeasures ship Pyotr Ilyichev on April 28, Russian TASS reported. The event was attended by Russian Chief of Navy Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov.

“We are launching a new ship together. It is an excellent ship with warships of this Project that have proven their worth at sea,” Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov said at the launch ceremony. The Project 12700 Alexandrit will be continued, the Navy chief added.

Minesweeper Pyotr Ilyichev​

The minesweeper Pyotr Ilyichev was laid down in July 2018 and is the Project 12700 Alexandrit-class fifth serial-produced (sixth-built) warship. The shipbuilders are building the mine countermeasures ships on order from the Russian Navy.

Russia’s Project 12700 Alexandrit-class coastal-type minesweepers developed by the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau are referred to the new generation of minesweeping forces and are designated to fight sea mines, which the new ships can encounter in the sea and on the seabed without entering the dangerous zone. The minesweepers can employ various sweeps, as well as remotely controlled and autonomous underwater drones. The minesweepers of this Project displace about 800 tonnes, are 62 meters long, have a crew of 44 men and an operating range of 1,500 miles.

The Project 12700 mine countermeasures vessels (minesweepers) have the world’s biggest hull made of monolithic fiberglass formed by vacuum infusion. As its advantage, this solution provides for the ship’s higher strength compared to the steel hull. The hull made of the monolithic fiberglass has a longer service life (up to 30 years) than the hull made of low-magnetic steel while its weight is considerably smaller.

video has emerged showing a test launch of a Kalibr cruise missile from a Russian Navy Project 1155 Udaloy class destroyer going spectacularly wrong. The footage shows the weapon, which has been newly introduced to the warship, the Marshal Shaposhnikov, cartwheeling uncontrollably soon after launch. It then crashes into the sea, where it continues to burn, not far from the ship, leaving a boiling whirlpool behind it.

While it bears the hallmarks of an official video, it was apparently leaked on the Russian Telegram social media network and was later posted to YouTube. Exactly when it was filmed is unclear, but Marshal Shaposhnikov recently rejoined the Russian Navy’s Pacific Fleet after receiving upgrades as part of a larger overhaul. Having returned to sea for post-refit trials last July, it conducted live-fire Kalibr tests from its newly installed vertical launch system earlier this month. Footage of a successful launch appeared on the Russian Ministry of Defense’s official news channel, Zvezda, on April 27. Both clips show similarities that suggest they could be from the same event.

MOSCOW, May 3. /TASS/. The lead Project 885M Kazan nuclear-powered submarine will be provisionally turned over to the Russian Navy on May 7, a source in the defense industry told TASS.
"Ceremonies of the acceptance statement signing for Kazan and the St. Andrew’s flag hoisting will provisionally take place on May 7," the source said. The submarine completed a verification sortie in late April, he added.
TASS has no official confirmation for this piece of information.
A source told TASS earlier that the submarine would be delivered to the Navy by the Russian Navy Day celebrated on July 25 this year. The delivery time for the submarine was repeatedly postponed. It was previously planned that the submarine would join the Navy by 2020 year-end but it failed to accomplish the state trials program within the prescribed timeframe.

On April 28, the Sredne-Nevskiy Shipbuilding Plant (a subsidiary of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) launched the Project 12700 MCM vessel (NATO reporting name: Alexandrite-class) ‘Pyotr Ilychyov’, which is the sixth naval platform of its class: the type ship, ‘Alexander Obukhov’, is issued to the Baltic Fleet, while the Black Sea Fleet operates ‘Ivan Antonov’ and ‘Vladimir Emelyanov’ MCM systems. Four more Project 12700 MCM vessels, ‘Georgy Kurbatov’, the above-mentioned ‘Pyotr Iliychyov’, ‘Anatoly Shlemov’, and ‘Lev Chernavin’, are at various stages of construction. The Russian Navy is reported to receive approximately 30 Project 12700 MCM vessels through 2050; therefore, these platforms will form the backbone of the military service’s mine-hunting component.

MOSCOW, May 7. /TASS/. The Kazan nuclear-powered submarine (project Yasen-M) has joined the Russian Navy, the Defense Ministry told the media on Friday.

The fourth-generation nuclear-powered submarine Kazan (Yasen project) joined the Russian Navy in a special ceremony at the Sevmash shipyard in Severodvinsk on Friday. The Navy’s commander-in-chief, Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov, attended the event to hand the St. Andrew’s Flag to the submarine’s commander, Captain 1st class Alexander Beketov, to be hoisted up the submarine’s flagpole, the Defense Ministry said.

Yevmenov expressed the certainty that Kazan’s crew would handle their mission of strengthening the nation’s defenses with dignity.

The lead submarine of project 885M (Yasen-M) Kazan was launched on March 31, 2017. Factory trials began on September 25, 2018. Project 885/885M submarines are armed with Oniks and Kalibr cruise missiles. Further down the road, they may be configured to carry Tsirkon hypersonic missiles.

MOSCOW, May 21. /TASS/. The Amur Shipyard in the Russian Far East will lay down two cutting-edge corvettes for the Pacific Fleet soon, Pacific Fleet Commander Admiral Sergei Avakyants told the Defense Ministry’s Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper on Friday.

"We expect the Fleet’s command to receive an invitation from the Amur Shipyard in the immediate future to the ceremony of laying the keel of another two new ships. The Project 20380 corvette Grozny and the Project 20385 corvette Buiniy are expected to be laid down at the Shipyard’s slipways," the commander said.

The corvettes will be the first naval ships that will be built under the 2021 defense procurement plan in compliance with a contract between Russia’s Defense Ministry and the Amur Shipyard, the commander specified.

"In 2024-2028, the Fleet is set to accept two Project 20380 corvettes and four Project 20385 ships," the admiral said.

The corvette Gremyashchiy will be the Project 20385 first warship that will operate in the Russian Pacific Fleet. The warship will arrive in the Russian Far East in several months, the commander specified.

Four Project 22800 missile corvettes, the carriers of Kalibr-NK cruise missiles, are currently at various stages of their construction at the Amur Shipyard in Komsomolsk-on-Amur: the Rzhev, the Udomlya, the Ussuriysk and the Pavlovsk. These warships are also intended to enter service with the Pacific Fleet.

Project 20380 ships developed by the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau are designated to accomplish green-water escort and strike missions and patrol coastal waters. They are armed with multi-purpose artillery guns, surface-to-air missile/artillery systems, supersonic missiles and automatic artillery launchers. The Project 20380 corvettes can carry a Ka-27 helicopter.

Project 20385 corvettes displace 2,200 tonnes, have an operating range of 3,500 miles and their sea endurance is 15 days. They are outfitted with Kalibr-NK multi-purpose missile systems, Redut anti-aircraft missile launchers and Paket anti-submarine warfare equipment.

Project 22800 Karakurt-class missile corvettes are designated to accomplish green-water missions as part of naval groups and on their own. They carry the 3S14 versatile shipborne launchers of eight Kalibr-NK and/or Oniks cruise missiles as their basic armament.

The warships that took part in the drills practiced defending maritime economic facilities and fighting terrorism in the Caspian Sea

ROSTOV-ON-DON, May 24. /TASS/. A joint group of warships from Russia and Kazakhstan successfully coped with the assigned missions during naval drills that ran at practice ranges in the Caspian Sea on May 18-24, the press office of Russia’s Southern Military District reported on Monday.
"The naval groups of the Caspian Flotilla jointly with the Navy of Kazakhstan held drills to practice operations in a single deployment order. The warships’ crews also practiced a set of measures to repel strikes by a notional enemy’s air attack weapons and conducted joint artillery firings against sea and air targets in a simulated naval battle. Frogmen units of both states were involved to carry out mine countermeasures and anti-saboteur operations," the press office said in a statement.

The warships that took part in the drills practiced defending maritime economic facilities and fighting terrorism in the Caspian Sea. After the results of the drills were summed up, the warships headed for their home naval bases, the statement says.
The naval group comprised five combat ships and support vessels of the Kazakh Navy, including the missile and artillery ships Oral and Mangystau. The Russian Navy was represented in the maneuvers by the small missile ship Grad Sviyazhsk, the minesweepers Magomed Gadzhiyev and RT-234, the rescue tug SB-738, the small hydrographic survey vessel Anatoly Guzhvin and the sea tug MB-58.

United Shipbuilding Corporation Director General Alexei Rakhmanov said that Admiral Kuznetsov’s repairs continue and remain on the budget, but will start its trials later than expected.

Russian Navy’s aircraft carrier “Admiral Kuznetsov” will start its sea trials later than expected due to problems with the supply of repair equipment. This was announced by the General Director of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) Alexei Rakhmanov in an interview with the Russian Vedomosti newspaper, published on Tuesday (May 25).

“The contract ends in 2023. But we will go into testing a little later than scheduled due to a number of technical problems associated with the supply of repair equipment – steam turbine units produced by the Kirov-Energomash plant. – said Rakhmanov.

In April 2018, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation signed a contract with USC for mid-life repairs and modernization of the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov until 2022. On December 12, 2019, a fire broke out on the carrier during repair work in Russia’s Arctic port in Murmansk. The combustion area was 500 sq. m, the fire was extinguished on December 13. Two people died and fourteen suffered injuries from the fire and smoke inhalation. Fire-related damage aboard Admiral Kuznetsov is estimated at US$1-1.5 billion.

I think its their only one and its history is full of accidents. Fighter jet crashes, fatal fires, propulsion failures, oil spills everything you can dream of.
A country like Russia should have made a new improved platform already.
There was a programm with the help of the French but i guess its delayed or ended.

The truth is that aircraft carriers are not cheap for operation and we know the economic situation in Russia. That economic situation is directly impacting also military acquisitions pushing the Russians to decrease the quality of their military technology. I think this will directly influence also the aircraft carrier game of the Russians and I am also looking rather negatively at the whole Admiral Kuzentsov case. To be cost effective is a good thing but the situation in Russia is on different level.

The Russians inherited a big armed forces from the Soviet Union. But maintaining such a thing takes a lot of money.

The almighty missile cruiser Moskva proved its capabilities once again, in recent drills performed at the Black Sea Fleet’s training ranges, where she was accompanied by the Admiral Grigorovich frigate, for a joint air defense exercise.

The most powerful warship of the Russian Navy’s Black Sea Fleet, the Moskva is equipped with no less than 16 P-1000 Vulkan missile launchers, with a 435 miles (700 km) strike range.

Like all cruisers in her class, she was developed to provide protection against attacks launched from carrier ships. What were formerly known as the “Soviet Rocket Cruisers” represent a new class of ships built as part of Project 1164 that began during the Soviet era and was continued by modern Russia. After its major deployment at the Hmeymim airbase in Syria, in 2015, where it led Russia’s Mediterranean taskforce, the Moskva missile cruiser has participated in several military trainings this year.

During the most recent air defense exercise, Moskva’s crew had to conduct a reconnaissance mission in order to locate a detachment of enemy ships, and then simulate a missile attack against the targets. According to a Black Sea Fleet statement, cited by the Russian media, the warships were able to successfully detect the enemy ships and aircraft, and to initiate a simulated missile attack while also activating radio-electronic and visual camouflage systems. As a result, the targets were destroyed, without the warships having to go past their safe distance.

The operations for the air defense exercise were carried out by the crew of the Moskva missile cruiser and that of the Admiral Grigorovich frigate.

Commissioned in 2016, the Admiral Grigorovich frigate is another important ship of the Black Sea Fleet, built as part of Project 11356R/M. Designed to destroy surface ships, submarines and ground installations, this versatile frigate is equipped with 8 Kalibr-NK cruise missile launchers, which have a strike range of about 1,615 miles (2,600 km).

The Knyaz Oleg Borey-A-class SSBN of project 955A began its first test sortie on May 30, a defense industry source told TASS.​

the source said. Sevmash Shipyard, which builds the SSBN, refused comment.
It was initially planned that the Knyaz Oleg would join the fleet on the Navy Day on July 25. However, the source said it is unlikely, as the submerged submarine has yet to test fire Bulava ICBM from the Barents Sea at Kura range in Kamchatka.

The Russian Navy operates four SSBN of projects 955 and 955A. Besides the Knyaz Oleg, Sevmash is building another three SSBN. Each submarine carries 16 Bulava ICBM. Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov earlier said the Knyaz Oleg would join the Navy by the end of 2021.
