Ohh, ,, , i need weekly dose of beautyfull "aparat" pics.
Why would South Africa give up on the only 3 submarine they operate? Put aside the operational costs, they should be giving up from a decent naval force,in order to let submarines go. 4 frigates will have no meaning without any submarines.Heroine class transfer to indonesia with a hefty price as bonus if we bag the contract to TKMS perhaps .
Maybe not all 3Why would South Africa give up on the only 3 submarine they operate? Put aside the operational costs, they should be giving up from a decent naval force,in order to let submarines go. 4 frigates will have no meaning without any submarines.
It is a good to grab opportunity though, if their submarines are on sale.
1 is not feasible for Indonesia, 2 is not feasible for South Africa.Maybe not all 3
I'm guessing that this Pretoria submarines are added bonus in what TKMS is offering. Don't know if the Navy actually wants used submarines even though its a bonus icing on the cake. Even the late KRI Nanggala commander voice his objection to any idea of the Defense Ministry getting used submarines.1 is not feasible for Indonesia, 2 is not feasible for South Africa.
It will be either 3 or none, it doesn't matter is SA has 1 or none submarines.
Maybe they are planning to move on for a mini-submarine, a cost effective solution for pure defense purposes?
Anyway if their naval assets are truly on sale due to the financial reasons, Indonesia should also ask for the frigates, those will be a good interim solution and during MLU can be modified according to the taste of Indonesian Navy.

Very curious on what the article is actually writing about this "audacious plan" by TKMS. We are all still guessing about this Pretoria submarines. Interesting to see the response from especially the French and "maybe" the Japanese side.

We just don't know what TKMS is offering. It could be even be the U218 ID variant unless there is someone already read the article and give us insight what actually the article is all about. Based from the article it is an offer that Indonesia simply cannot refuse.IIRC, during Rapim it's said that MoD wants lithium battery powered Scorpenes. Not sure about the TKMS lithium battery powered subs availability or if their lithium battery sub project is done successfully.
From this point of view (Li-On batt), Japanese offer (IF there's any) would probably much more attractive.
No idea.Recent order or part of the five aircraft ordered back then in early 2011?
Wasnt U218 SG equipped with it?sub project is done successfully.
What kind of power TKMS has on South African Navy?.I'm guessing that this Pretoria submarines are added bonus in what TKMS is offering. Type 218 will be hard if offered with local construction, those subs uses new construction technique which is quite different from the Nagapasa class and what Koreans have taught. Learning curve will be steep and new equipment and know-how transfer will be needed and i doubt if Germany offers that for orders below a certain a number. We just don't know what TKMS is offering. It could be even be the U218 ID variant unless there is someone already read the article and give us insight what actually the article is all about. Somehow, I started to hear this inside my head:it is an offer that Indonesia simply cannot refuse
Valour class frigate would be a great deal wkwkAnd If they are also selling the frigates, those should be purchased
