I remember this in the news around the early 2000s, just after East Timor was officially established.
Amazing what a far wealthier and powerful country can still choose to nitpick and exploit on an impoverished one.
Australia didn't need these energy reserves, it would be doing great without them....but it would have made world of difference for East Timor (of course dependent on its govt corruption still).
If I were Australia I would just consider dropping contest of the issue as a start-up aid to East Timor.
Which is what had lead to China now literally knocking on Australias backdoor, and Australia not being able to talk to E.T. because the door gets shut in their faces.Good for Australia... When you have a bunch of primitive and uneducated tribes, that are corrupt as hell, the best thing you can do to them is to exploit the shit out of them.
Well, Australia got the short straw in the long run...Good for Australia... When you have a bunch of primitive and uneducated tribes, that are corrupt as hell, the best thing you can do to them is to exploit the shit out of them.
