Counter insurgency are a very difficult ordeal and expensive one. focusing too much on Afghanistan and you lose sight of your Eastern borders.

talking about drones, NATO is probably the top user of drones in history, yet it achieves little.

ummm, the only one I see getting excited are Pakistani in general. While official statements coming from China r Russia are either restraint, or anger about the US pullout.

Not exactly here.. Nobody has the will power to fight Taliban let alone a stronger one.. The afghans have no heart in this anymore except ISIS-k but they are to insignificiant to create big ordeal but still all these elements if let festering could cause issues for Pakistan's state interests.. As I suggested previously all these interests you mentioned aligns with Pakistan's interests hence why Pakistan has to talk to Taliban for a collab and work with them to cleanse the country of the BLA, TTP and ISIS-K.. Just as I said previously..

By the way make no mistake this is Pakistan's own self-interest but the Chinese interests happen to align and getting armement support from them is key to re-arm the taliban and upgrade their capabilities. The ultimate unified goal here is a settled Afghanistan

US retreat
There is nothing masterstroke about it. They were bound to leave at some point. In fact they were already 10 years plus since OBL was wasted which was the original reason for the invasion. Or was it a project to develop liberal, gay friendly societies in which case they need to take over good part of the world and begin nation construction for the next 100 years.

why manty regional powers are worried
They were also worried when the Yanks went in. Change always brings worry. But only kids keep worrying. Grown men see change as challange and opportunity to recast the circumstances in their favour.

It is up to the regional players now to grab the bull by it's horn and build a better, more stable region even when recognizing that this is frought with problems and pitfalls. But since when has anything good come out of taking the easy path?

Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Russia, China and Turkey need to sort this out as this will impact Eurasia and is not Atlantic or Pacific. If success is achieved there is lot to be gained by all.

This goes back to this region being the geographic pivot of the world as espoused by Halford Mackinder.

They leave just in time when the US is returning back to great power competition, while at the same time leaving China surprised as they now have to balance between their security interests in the Pacific and now in Central Asia.

Security needs a lot of money.

yes it's a master stroke.

China being a hybrid maritime-continental power realized they can't have both fist (Navy and Army) to be equally strong, they need to make a choice.

This.. They were outlasted in a masterstroke as you said war needs alot of money. They claim 2 trillion but there is approx 21 trillion missing in military spending that simply vanished and uncounted for.. Because due to it's mountain regions is not an easy place to fight from conventional point of view and limits hardware due to mountains and everything plus the weather is horrible in the winter and summer..

Also stragetically Afghanistan has no value unless you are Pakistan due to it being your neighbour but other than that it really has no value it was a legit dumping place for dollars and the perfect blackhole

hence why China is worried, their projects are increasingly a target of islamist militants, and if they do something about it like this dude below plans to do:

then China will have to step on the same $21T mistake NATO had done. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

It is not hard to guess whos behind that blast... It is India via Afghan gov't via BLA but the main culprit is someone whos after PK's main state interests and stragetic economical installations and enemy to CPEC the culprit is quite clear there.. The target was mainly targetted to hurt Pakistan more than China... It was solely targetted at Pakistan and these who did it won't remain behind.. This was my whole point the entire time of removing anti-pakistan elements and you can't remove them without getting rid of the root of the cause which is usurp the Afghan gov't replace them with IEA

The Chinese relative to their economic power were not spending enough on geo-politics. So this will help things toward natural state of things. It is USA that has wasted men and treasure into pit that achieved nothing - giving two decades for China to rise. I think the Chinese dragon has sprouted wings and well past to fly the nest.

As I mentioned to open this gordian knor you need to get various Eurasian countries onboard. This is not just Chinese problem. As I said before Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Iran, China, Russia, Turkey have find the solution - it suits all their intertests.
