The most delayed project in our defense industry was Altay, but I am absolutely happy with this delay. Since Altay project start we saw a lot of battle and we learn lessons from them in this way we upgrade our MBT according to new threats. But regarding tank ammunition I have only heard of the Tanok and HE-T projects which Turkey is very deficient.... our armour penetrating capability is low as i know especiallly considering MKE sabot ammunutions, Is there any ongoing projects regarding 120 mm or 105 mm ?

aren't all modern tanks full of shit on their turret? RCWS, smokes, optics, countermeasures of all kinds, shit adds up.

huh? have you seen other tanks with APS and RCWS? Altay turret looks much better when compared to Abrams and Leopard with Trophy radars heavily sticking out of the turret.
Compare to next gen tanks. Altay is way too late. Dont even understand why they still want it, or do they?

Altay in its current configuration is still very much a relevant platform. We really need to stop saying it is/will be obsolete.
What revolution next gen design that people think would brink?
it is feasable to upgrade T1 with RF Jammer, as well as with some networking with APS radars/off board sensors the RCWS can be cued to engage uavs.

what next gen tanks?
US and rest of NATO don't even produce new tanks from scratch and just continuously upgrading their current fleet , Altay is still very much equivalent to the new M1A2 Abrams SEP V4, Leopard 2A8, and Challenger 3.
The only major development in next gen tanks might come from Korea, the K3, which is still in a very early concept form, the only major development in next gen tanks is moving the crew into an isolated capsule to improved crew survivability and making the turret unmanned, similar to what Russians did in T-14.

However in both Leopard and Abrams the APS is added to the current turret. Altay is designed from beginning to have the APS.
There's a lot of misinfo here. Altay has been updated and upgraded in its stasis form while the engine is getting made.
And a modern tank is still relevant. Abrams and Leopards are not this space-age thing, they're upgraded 80's tanks which still heavily see use. I don't know what kind of world you guys live in where military tools immediately become extremely obsolete in the span of a few years. Especially for MBTs.
Everything new and good about MBTs came in an upgrade package, ain't nobody making new MBTs from scratch. Yes, the engine situation was extremely mishandled, trusting Germany to deliver on the engines was an extremely foolish decision. And Ethem Sancak is a corrupt moron. But Altay once it gets made, one way or the other, will be a good tank. And a necessity.

We talk about updated/upgraded or obsoleted tank. Before we start to talk about a “modern tank”, we must clarify what we understand or what are challenges and requirements of a tank is, in a modern and challenging (asymmetrically) battlefield.

We talked about the same topic back in page 140. I don’t think there’s much to add to everyone’s points about it for now. You can add increased slat armor, jammers and more capable APS. It’s still the same MBT concept. Because an MBT is already a compromise on firepower, armor and speed. Move the sliders around as long as you wish. You’ll always need all those three to move forward behind enemy lines.
Altay can be updated and will be updated. But an Altay with high speed, good armor and good firepower will never be obsolete, as we are still using M48s.
