HPR:
Correction, it appears the HPR that was cleared for procurement now is an interim one, Israeli IP manufactured by L&T.
The indigenous HPR (ground based version of LRMFR) is probably still a few years away.

If Sudarshan means the same in Hindi as it in Bangla, who on earth would name a CIWS 'pretty'? ()
Anyway, does it fire programmable AB ammunitions like AHEAD?

Indian missiles and weapons systems are mostly derived from Sanskrit scriptures.
In Sanskrit, "Su" means good or auspicious and "Darshan" means vision translating Sudarshan to Auspicious Vision. As per ancient Hindu scriptures, one of Lord Vishnu's weapon is a Sudarshan Charkra and it must've something to do with it too
Lol how is good vision/auspicious sight the same as nice looking?Haha, you can teach me about Hindu scripture as Much as you want but please don't explain Sanskrit to a Bengali person like that. It is actually much closer to Sanskrit than Hindi. word for word 'Su Darshan' means the same in Bengali. I.e. nicelooking. (I double checked) But that wouldn't make sense for a weapon name. So, it is probably has to do with weapon name in Hindu scripture.
Lol how is good vision/auspicious sight the same as nice looking?
Prahaar: Strike
Agni: Fire
Pralay: Annihilation
Prithvi: Earth
Surya: Sun
Nirbhay: Fearless
Tejas: Radiance
Astra: weapon
Relax, it is the same word, and the same meaning.Lol how is good vision/auspicious sight the same as nice looking?
Now that I look back at the names, not everything is associated with Hindu scriptures but mostly just simple Sanskrit words or elements of the universe
Prahaar: Strike
Agni: Fire
Pralay: Annihilation
Prithvi: Earth
Surya: Sun
Nirbhay: Fearless
Tejas: Radiance
Astra: weapon
Prahaar, Nirbhay, Tejas being the exceptions.mostly just simple Sanskrit words or elements of the universe
