So this is indeed happening. 2 Istanbul bridges and 10 highways to be privatized for 30 years. These are all infrastructure that was paid and built by public funds and our taxes paid for their construction and operation for decades. Now we will be asked to pay exorbitantly increased fees to use them, when on the contrary they should be free to use. That is because the government is preparing for another election and they need nice hot cash they can get tomorrow instead of over the next decade.

France made the same mistake 20 years ago. Those private companies that are exploiting those highways are doing extraordinary profit.

The government makes more profit than the company that designs, develops, produces, and sells the product with a profit margin. The current administration system is entirely focused on taking the money out of the citizen's pocket, turning this into its own economic model. This applies to all products from A to Z: cars, clothing, technology...

In Turkey, you buy 1 car for yourself and pay the price of 3 cars in taxes to the government.

This should happen at once. Imagine the world going to more and more conflicts which means wars and you want to prepare for that future. You want to increase your defence spending like 229% in the next 3 years. You want to take opportunity of the changes taking place in the economy and technology fields. You want to increase spending in technology and want to increase your technology self sufficiency of 82-83 % of today to 95+ %. It is a good time to make use of your assets when they can rake a good amount now and make your investments at once. In the process we can more likely than not move out of the middle income trap and be called rich once the plans are all implemented. Otherwise the budget deficit is already under 3% and you could do smaller things within a couple point increase in the deficit.

You could instead just make everyone work until 65 instead of retiring then at like .... 48?

No exceptions, no freebies. Childfree people can kick rocks, 0 retirement

Do you really think you can save the economy by selling national assets built with citizens' taxes? Which state institution sold so far has profited you? The most recent example is TÃ¼rk Telekom. Unless you practice austerity, that incoming money just gets depleted by luxury government spending and inflation. For instance, what would happen if those official cars were black Meganes? How pathetic is it, really, that I am defending your taxes...Political fanaticism is just like sports fanaticism.. you tear yourself apart, chant, maybe buy a ticket with money you scrimped from your family, and at the end of the day, the footballer gets into his luxury Ferrari and goes to the club to sip his whiskey, while you end up waiting at a bus stop late at night to go home and have to wake up early the next morning for your minimum wage job..

That is a long term strategy, you can't achive results quickly. Companies seek young talent and once a person leaves a job it is highly unlikely to find a new one. We need to change our work culture and give eaqual opportunity to older people and people with irregular working capabilities.

The opposition prevented the Turk Telekom privatization and it costed Türkiye $15bn for selling late. Türkiye got backstabbed by the opposition and enemies of Türkiye were very happy. Small amounts coming from cars will not help with large investments. I won't respond to you anymore.

Türkiye has 8% joblessness, we do have younger people we don't need old people to work. It should be up to them if they want to work or not. Active people with good health will work already. Like 95% of all job ads require people 45 years old or younger. It is probably different in Germany.

This didn't happen once. Every single time AKP was cash strapped they sold something belonging to government, all the way back to when they were first elected. Some times with less yearly payments than that asset was actually bringing. AKP could be used in a picture dictionary to describe short sighted because every single thing they did has been planned no further than the next election.

Our economy is fucking devastated and you are still talking about it as if everything is fine and this isn't just years of government mismanagement leaving them with nothing but taxes and privatisation to get revenue from.

Don't care. The point is not to make old people a burden for the state. Go make enough kids to feed you later

Anything else is not sustainable.

If you need money, start building TOKİ homes like crazy and sell them to the general populace (at a small profit), preferably 3+1 or 4+1 ones so people have enough living space to raise 2+ children

The social security system has like ₺35bn surplus this year, so it sustains itself. Unlike Germany Türkiye grows its own food so it is easier to feed a family in Türkiye. What I find as a big reason is a political divide between the population that causes people to choose a more solitary life, this will be healed over time, will maybe take 5-10 years before population growth picks up.

Population growth will not really go up its not just limited by economic factors most young people dont want children because of the life expectations and taking care of children is just time consuming
