With the mentioned C-130J purchase and extra A400 order, I don't think air force would be interested in a similar sized aircraft. We absolutely will need a CN-235 replacement in the next decade however.

I hadn't seen that upgunned design before. I think keeping the aft with the depth charges and the ASW rockets keeps that side tidy. I agree that Levent or a system like that would be a tad heavy and would require extensive modification to the ship, like changing locations. Wish they had gone...

    USA US Presidential Elections 2024

This is how US led security order collapses. I don't think they can afford to anchor tens to hundreds of thousands of troops in Iran in 2025.

An NGO claims it might be WP and not tear gas. Using WP near the vicinity of UN troops certainly would make this a new thing.

Tuzlas are our most specialized littoral ASW ships. While they don't have much space left for anything else, I do think they need a point defence AD for Aegean. They are however also on the cheaper end and a Levent system may be 60-70% of the cost of the ship. @Anmdt , could this section be...

Looks like a new UUV will be presented by STM at SAHA Expo next week.

Of course. Nothing wrong with that. But there is a clear conflict of interest there with the government and Baykar, and it needs to be investigated. Did government officials specifically push TB2s over other Turkish products in those talks? We don't know.

Terms and conditions rarely apply to real world use. We were also supposed to not use our Leo2s in Cyprus and "Southeast" but we did. F-16 sale could only happen if Turkey accepted the NDAA but it was reversed and removed from the bill etc. What are they gonna do, ask for the platforms back...

You don't have the data to back this claim I think. Not necessarily, no. The claim from some that Turkish credit lines and/or military aid dollars were used to channel orders to Baykar over other companies should be investigated in time.

Apologies, but this was indeed third time. Alternatives don't mean anything. We already have RAM launchers on 4 ships, which we would need to spend millions to replace even if Levent and Göksur were ready, and they aren't. As chngr mentioned, Turkey only ever got 48 RIM-116 Block 1s. We were...

It does not. DSCA readout only includes F110s for the F-16s, nothing else. "forty-eight (48) F110-GE-129D engines (40 installed, 8 spares)" https://www.dsca.mil/press-media/major-arms-sales/turkiye-f-16-aircraft-acquisition-and-modernization You can remove articles from the packages announced...

To have spare missiles for the RAMs we already have on our 4 corvettes. How many times are you going to ask the same question?

There's currently no Tranche 5. Current production aircraft for Germany is the Quadriga, the T4 model. If Turkey signs, it might be the first T5 customer. Numbers are interesting. I think "ASAP" here could mean close to 5 years. Quoting my post from august.

Niger needs all the donkeys they can get, they are losing. TB2 is hardly a racing horse to be honest. That's why it's valuable. I'm more interested in its camera load, doubt it can accommodate CATS.

We knew for some time that the missile would be different than Sungur, no? Levent is longer. As Yıldırım points out, in a past mockup, they had shown two different missiles in a model, one of which Sungur. Looks like the idea of using Sungur as a substitute is now dead after Aselsan touted...
