Less about the money and more about over producing risking shelf-life expiry. Anyway, it wouldn't matter even if we had a few hundred, we can produce them in the quantities needed on our own time frame schedule, with our own propulsion systems.

SOM has been around for quite a while now. We first saw it in IDEF11 with much disbelief only to witness their firing test and rapid service entry just a year or so later. so we have been mass producing them since 2013 at the latest so providing 400 units to Azerbaijan is not too far-fatched...

TR Turkiye's F-35 Project and Discussions

Only for the reason that the US can wave CAATSA in front of our nose any time it suits it, we shouldn't go back to that deal. Not to mention them admitting selling dumbed down versions to allies, or the negative impact on our own KAAN, or the fact that it's more like a lease rather than a...

TR Turkiye's F-35 Project and Discussions

It doesn't really matter now whether the F-35s have a kill switch or not. What's crystal clear at the moment is that the U.S. is not a trustworthy or a reliable ally. We Turks have experienced this when the other partner countries in the JSF program happily followed the U.S. dictate of kicking...

Italians do have a history of producing imported weapons locally. Just look up Meridionali Chinook, Aeritalia F-104S/ASA, Agusta/Bell 204/205/206 etc. I still think that Leonardo is going to facilitate many things not only for Baykar but for the entire Turkish defence industry and maybe tenders...
