PG115 is the spitting image of the Rotax engine, probably reverse engineered. Rotax 914 is more than 30 years old and does not fall under patenting rights anymore (everyone who wants can in principle reverse engineer and use it, just like what MKE does with many other cannon systems)

I think we should read these type of announcements like a reminder to US address as: "we keep our options open in case you get funny ideas on the engine supply".
