What happened in Erzurum today is a shame. But there is also the back of the picture. Imamoğlu was not attacked at the rally but on road. While giving a speech to a group of 150-200 people on the road, incidents occurred. A group of people who you think are CHP members but who are probably Hdp members in terms of their methods throw stones at the group protesting against Imamoğlu and the events get out of control. CHP's vote in Erzurum is under 5 per cent, the main support group of KK here is Demirtaş voters.
If you salute Demirtaş at a rally and greet the participants with Hdp flags with the victory sign, which has become the ideological symbol of the PKK, even a person who cannot speak properly can go to a coffee house or billiard saloon in Erzurum and gather 50 ignorant young in 15 minutes. This is the most conservative city in Turkiye, and there are neighbourhoods where bigoted people live to the extent that even most conservatives are overwhelmed.
I say it clearly: If Kılıçdaroğlu releases Demirtaş as he promised and decrees on related issues are cancelled, civil war will break out that day. CHP cadres should come to their senses. Most people have no idea what the consequences of this would be. Unless Kılıçdaroğlu can get rid of this strange structure that surrounds him like a shell, there will be a crisis as soon as he takes over the government. Can take Oğan, Ince already has one simple condition. Namely that KK is not doomed to learn the hard way, he still have opportunity to correct his very fundemental mistakes. There are boundaries that can be crossed, and there are boundaries that should never be crossed. You underestimate what kind of security paranoia this country has felt by US proxies after post-2015-2016. Not KK, not RTE, no human in the world can reverse this process. It is necessary to embrace this reality instead of fighting it.
