LOL, Hürjet is not a VTOL plane, if a VTOL plane is to be made it will be something else.

TF-2000 will provide protection. But eventually we are going to need air-superiority fighters, whether manned or unmanned, to be carrier-deployable.
Instead of adding VLS and some missiles on TCG ANADOLU, why should we wait and build another ship?
Which one is cheaper adding VLS and missiles or building a new air defense frigate?
Let TCG ANADOLU be independence from any other ship.

Well I'm guessing TB3 will be ready way before the first TF-2000 enters service. So we will either fit surface to air missiles on the TCG Anadolu or rely on our other vessels for air protection. However I think the plan all along was to have the TCG Anadolu accompanied by an assortment of ships with dedicated roles, just like a US carrier group.

No matter how much air protection we install on the TCG Anadolu, it is always preferable to have dedicated air defence ships escorting it. But that said, I am all for adding SAMs to it. Just in case we need our TF-2000s elsewhere.

Probably a good way of both arming TCG Anadolu with air defense missiles and not arming it is making the air defense add-ons portable. You only deploy the rocket launchers if the mission at hand requires it and keep the ship intact if not.

Such modular solution sounds good but how implementable is it? We need either perfectly a modular VLS or that solution sounds like the one below we saw earlier.

Do we know of such existing system?

I certainly do not suggest a land based system to be deployed on board the ship.

I suggest launchers to be attached to the starboard side where the castle is outside the bulkhead.
I have seen some ships like that, probably Italian ships but they maybe permanent installations. What I am suggesting is to make those permanent installations detachable and attachable on demand. This can be done at base port or from a support ship where canisters are stored. Ancillary systems of the air defense system can be kept on board permanently. This way the ship can go for civilian missions unarmed when necessary.

No hell no:censored: Just not Avenger which is our SUNGUR equivalent. Bro those are made from MANPADS .
They even can't fulfit the mission of point defence.

Yeah I understand that. You can place Siper that way if there is a place on the deck. The thing I wanted to point out is that modular solution is good only if made in a perfect matter otherwise we can think of modular solution that way also which is a bad idea. I didn't see such a solution @Zafer suggested that is why I am asking how he is seeing it so I can make a picture in my mind but I am not sure what would be the complications.

I would want to hear @anmdt on that modular solution concept and his PoV.

You can not wait for someone else to invent it for you.
Italians used similar systems, I have seen pictures of it already.
The difference is our TCG Anadolu is a multi-mission ship and keeping it fully armed at all times is not suitable.
Siper can be used this way without losing any of its capacity.

As we all know , TCG ANADOLU will have SMART-S or CENK-S radar. As The most important and expensive partof SAM systems are the radar, why don't we just connect some missiles with it.

Leaving smart-s without SAM system seems to me waste of potential and resources.

Modularity for Siper on Anadolu?
Then why did we get Istanbul Class.
And i think Istanbul Class + Barbaros can protect TCG Anadolu by then, one with ESSM /G40 another with Siper -Hisar O RF.

We can Install Sapan RAM -if comes- in addition to other CIWS or NASAMS like laucher for point defense, i think going beyond that would be not logical for the LHD. I am more on side of using stern-platform or some other available spots to install those.

TF2000 with CAFRAD + Siper combo is what we need for a solid protection of TCG Anadolu, interim solutions will have only partial coverage.

And in my opinion Anadolu should have had Cafrad CFR module and another mid range volume scan radar on a separate mast (cenk-s) for her own protection, then equipped with CIWS -Ram -Point defense layered AD that will put her in the league of ACs in terms of self protection.

SİPER as a side arms, cable shooting TB3
This basket version of ESSM and VLS based anti ship missiles operations are already in use in Italian Cavour and Japanese LHD’s.
Our TCG Anadolu should definitely be equipped with both self defence and anti ship and land attack missiles and be used like a Japanese Destroyer class LHD. @UkroTurk 🚬 had already suggested something similar in past pages.
The Italian ship has front and back 76mm Oto Melara guns and Aster VLS missile systems with various CWIS guns.

I love this guy, wish he joins our forum :) :)

He would go crazy if he has seen this and possible future plan for Turkish LCTs (Note: not LSTs, this is an LCT concept from like 10 years ago but we are sure it will be revisited in future again)

Damn, that's a spicy LCT. We should equip it with T-129 or T629 or T929 :D
That will be amazing, and imagine Gökdeniz-Compact in place of STOP-SMASH for dual action :p
That is 75+ meters btw, perfect platform for export too since some countries are looking for LCTs, maybe it is time to reheat and put it on market as a hybrid solution.
