10 AH-1W will be shifted to TN Aviation Branch, from TAF inventory, to be operated on TCG Anadolu.

My personal opinion:
Intended for training and gaining experience until T-929 makes it to the field. Navy is highly interested in Atak-II thus it was also known to be navalized from the beginning, like the 10 tons General Purpose Helicopter.

Looks like we will see some T-129 before T-929 makes a break;
"I asked. At that time, he stated that the SuperCobras were now obsolete as a body and instead of spending a lot of money on those platforms, it was decided to supply the new production T129 ATAK and said: "In this context;" Thread on T-129 for LHD by Ibrahim Sunnetci;

So they can operate the AH-1W + 8 Navalized T-129s, and when T-929 arrives the T-129s will be assigned to the LSTs (will be 4 of them by 2025) + HQ (Aksaz)?
Or they will be operated in mixed configuration T-129 (8) + T-929 (8-12) on TCG Anadolu?

now this is interesting since Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carrier has AgustaWestland AW101 as early warning aircraft so it may be for ANADOLU as well who knows

Rather see our own Helicopter fitted with our own sensors;

I agree. But TCG Anadolu will be joining the Navy’s inventory soon. It needs navalised helicopters. If we can get these for the interim period, then that is a solution.
As attack helicopters go, the 10 super cobra helicopters will fill in a void as well. But they are old and quite a bit outdated in terms of it’s equipment. If I am not mistaken including the flight computer, cockpit screens, targeting systems and weapons system need modernising or upgrading. @Anmdt can give us more info on this.
But if we are to be blunt ; “beggars can’t be choosers! “ We need to take what we can to achieve our goal!

So bringing in a new aircraft will be a smooth transition? There needs to be an army of maintainers, pilots and sensor operators to be trained and disciplined in the use of a any new gear. Best would be to rely on Seahawks, till national solution is adapted. Seeing as Navy is getting behind ATAK-II, which is going to share common drivetrain and powerplant with 10-ton general purpose helicopter - it's a no brainer - to me atleast..

I would rather wait for domestic solutions, by using some S-70 from the inventory or acquiring some second hands with a commonality with our helicopters.
AH-1W and S-70 can keep the ship "trained", not an optimal solution for operations but hoping Atak-II might in service in 2025. For heavy lifts we may consider some European options but i am not sure too, unless a joint production or customization is offered like Atak deal.
like @Combat-Master has told, Atak-II and 10 tons GPH shares a drive train and probably electronics etc. thus it will make maintenance much easier aboard the ship.

We've operated Cobra's before so we do have ressource for maintenance and such. Is it because they're not navalized that we'll have issues ?

I don't recall that we have any seahawks tbh, but correct me if I'm wrong. And if we have it's likely to be personelle carrier type and not the armed version.

Yes, army maintenance has in-depth knowledge of AH-1W- the engines being closely related to Black/Sea-Hawks is also a plus. We've discussed in previous pages on how it would be good idea to transition AH-1W from army use to Naval use till we can get our own solutions up and running. It's good to see that will be the case so our LHD aren't toothless right off the bat and I'm sure we could operate non-navalised T-129 for short periods and with increased washdowns if necessary (Like the Italians do).

Yes, we have around 20 Seahawks integrated with L-UMTAS, and potentially Medium Range Anti-Ship missile in the future.

Turkey continues to work with the aim of launching manned and unmanned platforms such as MIUS and Hurjet from the short runways so instead of the second similar class LHD, I think the next target after TCG Anadolu will be a much larger ship that can be called as actual aircraft carrier.

Mr. Erdoğan: "Our first aircraft carrier associated with the Navantia is not actually large-scale. We will do the large scale from now on. We are already in agreement with my dear friend (Sánchez) on this matter. Hopefully, we plan to build a large aircraft carrier after the current aircraft carrier.
Maybe with that we'll have the case to get into the submarine thing. We talked about these in detail with my dear friend and friend. And we will take these steps.
And there is a lot we can do together in the defense industry. We have the chance to take many steps on these issues such as UAV, SİHA, AKINCI, and we will have the opportunity to share Spain's own products in the same way."

We really don't have any nuances in Turkish when it comes to LHD and AC :p "Ucak gemisi" perhaps we should go with "Ucak Vapuru" :)
This is sourced in our President I think. When I listen to his statements regarding armored vehicles like IFVs, APCs he is tending to call them "tanks" and when he talks about LHDs like TCG Anadolu for example he is calling them as aircraft carriers.

@Spook Not long ago I saw a meme themed on categorization of armored vehicles. At the one side there were all types of armored vehicles like APC, AFV, IFV, MBT etc and on the other side was that one guy that calls them all as just a "TANK" 😂

As funny as it sounds but I think that is the case so it may an Aircraft Carrier discussion or the TCG Trakya.

A ship "much larger" than Anadolu has no way to be an identical one like the anticipated Trakya as we envision it. Considering also Mr Demir's statements there won't be a drone ship in the same class as the Anadolu as all drone modifications are considered for the Anadolu including the TB3, MIUS and the Hürjet naval. Think bigger.

Navantia once again, offers their F110 for TF-2000 programme. They have earlier done it in 2017-2018 and then 2019 through different channels (once with STM once with a private shipyard). And i am proudly telling, TF-2000s current design is well ahead of F-110 with her major design principle.

Meanwhile the post explicitly shows TCG Trakya was scheduled/planned and awaiting for discussion. and Navantia is willing to provide support for Milden, this time as a solution partner. Probably they have come to realization of the fact Turkish Navy will not procure a design or try to build their concept on someone else's ready design thus they offer being a solution partner and providing technical assistance.

Current plan for TCG Trakya seems to be rather a minor to moderate modification on existing design, yet we know how Turkish Navy is and the displacement will vary by 20-30% of the planned displacement (more than Anadolu) by the end and it will have certain capabilities that ACs have and design will receive a moderate re-design procedure, apart from being a modification.

I don't think people at navantia are this dumb to ask turkey to give up a much advanced ship for the F110 , Unless the turkish navy will give up tf-2000 just to get F110 with Aegis system ( with assurance from the spain that usa won't object )

or

I remeber you once said that TN are looking for a ship between I-class and tf-2000 and by looking at the slow delivery of I-class , the TN might buy f110 ( not to be built in turkey ) . navantia built 5 corvettes for saudi navy in just 4 years .
TN will not purchase anything from abroad as a whole system anymore. Yet they are giving one more shot as a ready to build design.

What they can offer at best is providing services from now on, or new co-designed platforms that fall into niche category like LHD/AC.
