TR Aircraft Carrier and Amphibious Ship Programs

i want to ask you a some question.
While Turkey's economy is getting worse every day, why try to build a platform like an aircraft carrier, which is very expensive to build and operate? I think that Turkey's priority should be on other projects right now. Because you know that Turkey does not have unlimited financial and human resources to allocate to every project. Doesn't starting such a project make it harder to allocate resources to other projects?

Its not a choice,in the end as a country we have to be able to show force.
Take a look at our geography,we are a country of 80+ million surrounded by seas.
We belong in the top 10 Armed Forces of the world and to do that we need to upgrade all of our forces.
Think of our current and future interests around the world(Africa,South East Asia,South America).
Whats the best way to offer help in any way needed,only by sea.
An AC carrier group can help in all circumstances.
Btw,its a project of at least 15 years so the economy wont be an issue.

Turkey will need aircraft carriers to project power in Africa and the Middle East. There's going to be a huge crisis due to desertification. Watch Ethiopia's GERD, it will cause a war and mass migration from Egypt. Turkey needs to keep the entire region stable. Otherwise there will be an endless wave of migrants, something that we already know we can't handle.

Yes, the aircraft carrier is a thing I can confirm that %100 but not in the short term. There won't be any AC before 2030. I expect the first welding ceremony in 2027/28.

Sea acceptance testing, or SAT, is the most important phase of testing a new warship. It is a fairly lengthy process. Naval forces test every system in ships to their limits to ensure that the system functions properly. For example, if the ship's maximum speed is listed in the documents as 25 knots, you need to see the ship reaching 25 knots and maintain that speed for a period of time (the duration must be specified in the documents). If the maximum range of the fire control radar is 50 nautical miles, the radar must pick up and maintain a track in that range. If there is a problem with a test or if the system is below standard, the test is repeated. This repetition is performed until the value specified in the technical documentation is reached.

Here are the durations of SAT dates and durations of the sisterships of TCG Anadolu;
- Juan Carlos (Spain): 22.09.09-30.09.10 (~1 year)
- Canberra (Australia): 03.03.14-28.11.14 (~8.5 months)
- Adelaide (Australia): 22.06.15-4.12.15 (~7.5 months)

As a result, I am not sure that officials will be able to complete the SAT by the end of the year. We will see.

On the other hand, TCG Anadolu will return to the shipyard for integration of the UAV system after it enters service with the Turkish Navy. After integration, the brand new system will also undergo HAT &SAT testing. It seems that we will have to wait another 2-3 years before the TCG Anadolu can perform UAV flight operations together with the escort ships.

There are additional carrier ships planned but these planes are smaller and they say they can accomodate between 50-100 UAVs on the ship.

you can’t accommodate 50 TB3 on Anadolu, if that is what you mean. At max you could probably have a half dozen hurjet + a dozen mius and a dozen tb3

Military Procurement Chief Ismail Demir said so on TV yesterday but he didn't elaborate what type of UAVs.
The ship enables operation of 10 UAVs in the air at any given time and the remaining planes can be stowed on the below deck.

I don’t see the point of using Hurjet in the Anadolu to be honest. And even if they manage to make it taking off the ship it will be with little to no payload at all. A bit like the Chinese right now.

With a real aircraft carrier with CATOBAR or EMALS why not … But with the current situation it doesn’t make sense.
